Lavale Miller was arrested after he was identified as the man who started a fire in a trash receptacle on April 1, 2015 at approximately 4:50 p.m. on the Roosevelt University’s Loop Campus. There were no injuries reported from the incident. Miller was charged accordingly. No further information at this time.

Escapee Kamron Taylor was taken into custody by Chicago Police in the 9200 block of S. Harper Ave.  On April 3, 2015, at approximately 9:00 pm, 004th District officers responded to a call of a suspicious person, as the officers approached, Taylor fled on foot. Officers apprehended him a short distance away and recovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver.  Taylor has been charged accordingly and will be turned over to the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department at a later time to face local charges.  Any further information relating to this matter should be directed to the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Dept at 815.802.7255.

Jose Mena was arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred on the 3100 block of West 38th Place at approx. 7:15 pm on March 31st, 2015. Mena was charged after being identified as the offender who, during an argument, shot a 20 year old male in the chest and wrist with a handgun. The victim was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he was treated for his wounds. Mena was arrested a short distance away by officers responding to the shooting. During the investigation, Mena gave officers a false name and birth date and was charged accordingly.

Stephon Gill was arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a 25 year old man that occurred on March 25th, 2015. At approx. 5:35 pm on that day, Gill was involved in a physical altercation with the victim inside of a restaurant located on the 5200 block of West Fullerton Ave. After the victim attempted to flee the restaurant through a rear door, Gill was observed following the victim while firing at him with a handgun. The victim was struck multiple times and was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced. Gill was arrested on March 31st, 2015 and charged accordingly.

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting DUI Strike Force Patrols in the 3rd (Grand Crossing) District and in the 25th (Grand Central) District this weekend.

The 3rd District DUI Strike Force Patrol will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015 and end at 3 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015.

The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence in the 25th District at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 and end at 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2015.

On March 30, 2015, at approximately 3:15-3:30 pm, two 9-year-old males exited school located in the 700 block of N. Lorel Ave. after dismissal and were walking southbound towards Huron St. when a white van pulled up. An unknown male black exited the van and said, “Come here, I got some candy for you,” while holding candy in his hand. The victims did not respond and continued walking. When the van began to follow them, the victims ran away and notified family members about the incident.
