This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several vehicle thefts in which the offender(s) is targeting Ford and Chevy Cargo Vans. These vehicle thefts occur overnight after the cargo vans have been parked legally overnight and left unattended.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the Morgan Park District (22nd District) of four recent burglaries reported on Beat 2222 involving a similarly described offender. In each incident, the suspect either attempted or made forced entry into the location. Once inside, the offender either removed property or menaced the occupants of the location.

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 001st District (Central) of robbery related incidents during the month of November. Three to four teenage offenders have hidden under or near the train viaduct, and approached guests on the sidewalk as they returned to their hotel. The offenders engaged the victims while one displayed a black handgun and demanded the victim’s cell phone and wallet.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since  2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.

This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several burglaries that have occurred in the month of October. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) have entered apartments and residences, through windows or doors, and have
taken electronics, cash, and other miscellaneous items.

On November 1, 2015, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Gresham (6th) District officers responded to a traffic crash on the 7700 block of South Loomis, after a male driver traveling at a high rate of speed struck several parked vehicles. Upon arrival officers observed a vehicle in the street on fire and were informed by witnesses that one victim was able to get out and two males were still inside of the vehicle. The officers immediately took control of the situation by breaking out the door windows and were able to extricate two unconscious males before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Three male adult victims were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured.

The four officers are currently assigned Gresham (6th) District.
