This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several residential burglaries that have occurred in the month of July. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) entered apartments and residences, through windows and doors. The offenders removed electronics, jewelry, cash, and other miscellaneous items.

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting DUI Strike Force Patrols in the Deering (9th) District this upcoming weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Deering (9th) District will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016.

The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators.

In addition, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed to allow officers to expedite the process of charging a person with Driving under the Influence (DUI) prior to transporting an alleged into the nearest lockup for bonding. The mobile unit also allows for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Strike Force Patrol.

The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Grand Central (25th) District at 4555 W. North Ave. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016.

During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.

This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely.  This is part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 006th District (Gresham) of Robbery incidents that have occurred in recent weeks. During these incidents, unknown offender(s) displayed firearms and demanded property from the victims or used force to take the property without a weapon.

Jones was charged in connection to a fatal hit and run traffic crash which occurred on July 22, 2016 at approximately 1:50 p.m. on the 3300 block of S. Indiana. Jones was driving a 2016 Ford Cargo Truck westbound on 33rd Street when he ran a red light at Indiana and struck a 2014 Ford F150 pickup being operated by a 37-year-old male. Jones exited his vehicle at the scene of the collision and fled on foot.  The 37-year-old victim was transported to Stroger Hospital where he was later pronounced. Jones was charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time.

20th District Tactical Officers observed Pilcher operating a vehicle without seatbelts and curbed the vehicle on the 1100 block of W. Foster on July 22, 2016 at approximately 3:25 pm.. When the officers approached the vehicle they detected a strong odor of cannabis emitting from inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed Pilcher to be in possession of a handgun with a defaced serial number. Pilcher was placed into custody and charged accordingly. During the investigation it was determined that Pilcher was operating as an Uber driver and the passenger had hired Pilcher via a cell phone application. A name check of Pilcher revealed Pilcher to be a convicted felon. No further information is available at this time.

On July 05, 2016 on the 5300 block of N. Elston at approximately 10:00 p.m, a 43 year old woman was walking to her vehicle when the offender and attempted to engage her in conversation. As the victim got into her vehicle the offender reached in and touched the victim’s chest and genital area over her clothing. The victim managed to push the offender away at which time he fled.

On July 12, 2016 on the 5200 block of N. Laramie at approximately 3:20 PM, a 35 year old woman was walking when the offender approached and engaged her in conversation. The offender then struck the victim’s buttock with his hand and then exposed his genitalia. The offender then fled northbound on Laramie.

On July 14, 2016 on the 6100 block of W. Waveland at approximately 3:30 PM, a 17 year old woman was walking when the offender ran up from behind and touched her buttocks and chest. The offender then fled eastbound on Waveland.
