DUI SATURATION PATROL – DEERING (009th) DISTRICT

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol in the Deering

(009th) District this weekend. The DUI Saturation Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday,

December 23, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2016.

The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers

that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place

emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for

speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators.

In addition, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed to allow

officers to expedite the process of charging a person with Driving under the Influence (DUI)

prior to transporting an alleged into the nearest lockup for bonding. The mobile unit also allows

for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Saturation

Patrol.

The DUI Saturation Patrol conducted in the Chicago Lawn (008th) District on December 16-17,

2016, resulted in the following:

Driving Under the Influence 2

Unsafe Vehicle Violations 15

Insurance Violations 7

Traffic Violations (Other) 13

Total Citations 37

Other Arrests 0

Vehicles Towed 2

About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to citizens in the 9th District (Deering) of armed robbery
incidents which have occurred during the month of December. In these incidents,
male black offender(s) approached victim(s) and demanded their property. Incident
times and locations are listed below:
Incident times and locations:
2900 Block of South Bonfield Street on December 15, 2016 in the late night hours.
1300 Block of West 32nd Street on December 16, 2016 in the late night hours.
About the Offenders:
Two (2) unknown male blacks. 5’09-6’0, 140-150, 20-24 years old.
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Report suspicious activity immediately
• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth,
etc…)
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible

14 Dec 16- Charges for Willa Wickerson, 56

Wickerson was placed into custody after being identified as the person responsible for the death of 1-month-old male. Officers responded to the 6600 block of S. Racine on December 7, 2016 at approximately 2:10 p.m. where the infant was reported unresponsive.

Park (016th) District this weekend. The DUI Saturation Patrol will commence at 6:00 p.m. on

Saturday, December 17, 2016 and end at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2016.

that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place

This alert gives notice to the residents of the 14th District (Shakespeare) of a recent Criminal Sexual Assault and Armed Robbery which occurred on December 14, 2016 at 3:52 a.m. During this incident, a 30-year-old male and a 23-year-old female were sitting inside of a parked vehicle on the 2700 block of West Crystal when they were approached by 4 unknown offenders, all of whom were armed with handguns. The offenders pointed the handguns at the victims and demanded their property. Two of the offenders then forcefully sexually assaulted the female victim at gunpoint. One of the offenders then attempted to force the female victim into the offender’s vehicle before shoving her to the ground. The offenders subsequently entered their vehicle and fled the scene.

09 Dec 16- Charges for Olajuwon Claiborne

Claiborne was arrested after being identified as the offender who committed a Home Invasion on December 7, 2016 on the 5100 block of S. Long at approximately 11:52 a.m. During this incident, Claiborne entered into the home of a 94-year-old woman and battered the victim before taking her purse and fleeing the scene.
