About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to the residents of the 14th District (Shakespeare) of multiple
residential burglaries that have occurred since January. In all of these burglaries, the
Offender forced entry to the residence during the daytime, when the resident was
away. The offender stole mainly electronic items and some jewelry.
Incident times and locations:
• 3500 block of W. Fullerton Ave (3 times in January and March)
• 2000 block of N. Drake Ave in January
• 2700 block of N. Central Park in February
• 3100 block of N. Christiana Ave in March
• 2700 block of N. Kedzie in April

Unknown
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings.
• Pay special attention to suspicious people loitering in the area and report them to
the police.
• If confronted by an offender, remain calm and comply.
• Remember any unique descriptive characteristics of offenders (Scars, limp, acne,
teeth etc.)
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s)
including any vehicle description and license plate information and direction of
flight.

About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 1st (Central) District of robbery
related incidents during the month of April. Two incidents occurred on the CTA trains
while in motion. Unknown offender(s) punched the unsuspecting victims in the face,
causing bodily harm, and then grabbed the victim’s cell phones or purses, and fled
as the train doors opened. These incidents occurred in the evening hours in the
general geographical locations listed below:
Incident times and locations:
• 1200 block of S. State St. on 21 April 2017 at 6:00 PM (Orange Line)
• 300 block of S. State St. on 23 April 2017 at 3:18 AM (Red Line)
About the offenders:
• JA234025: Male, Black, 15-17, 5’09-6’00, 145-175 lbs. black skull cap
• JA235614: Male, Black, 5’09 and Male, Black
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Report suspicious activity immediately
• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible

24 Apr 17 Commercial Burglaries 19th District (P17-N-099(CA))

Bureau of Detectives – Area North Community Alert Commercial Burglaries 19th District (Town Hall) About the Crime: This alert gives notice to four recent Commercial Burglaries that have occurred within the boundaries of the 19th District (Town Hall) in the last week. In these burglaries, businesses have been targeted by the offender(s) after the business has closed for the day. The offender(s) smashed the glass door, gained entry, and took cash from the register and cigarettes from the business.

Incident times and locations:

• 4100 block of N. Clarendon on April 20, 2017 at 06:05 am

• 4100 block of N. Clarendon on April 21-22, 2017 between 10:00pm & 5:30am.

• 2500 block of N. Lincoln on April 22, 2017 at 05:45am

• 2600 block of N. Clybourn on April 23, 2017 between 06:00am & 06:30am

About the Offender: Three male black offenders, 5’10 – 6’00 185 – 200 pounds, 25 – 30 years of age Possibly driving a dark grey Dodge wagon with broken passenger side window.

• Be aware of this crime and alert your neighbors.

• Pay special attention to any suspicious people loitering in the area.

• If possible, purchase and maintain a working alarm system.

About This Crime
On April 20, 2017 at about 1:30 p.m., a male subject was seen parking his vehicle on
4800 block of W. Shakespeare Ave. near school grounds during recess. The grounds
are bordered by a wrought iron fence. The male stood by his car with the driver’s door
open, watching the children for several minutes. The male began to make a beckoning
gesture with his hand, trying to get a male preschool student’s attention. Two school
employees, who had been monitoring the male offender, then walked towards him. The
male ran to the open driver’s door, and drove west on Shakespeare Ave., then north on
Lamon Ave., running the corner stop sign as he sped away.
About the Offender
Male White Hispanic, 36-45 year-old, about 5’6″ in height, weighing about 160 lbs., with
dark brown shoulder-length curly hair. Subject wore a black jacket, and a dark baseball
cap. No facial hair or glasses were seen.
About the Offender’s Vehicle
• Green colored older model four door sedan.

• Call 911 to report any suspicious persons or activity.
• Walk in pairs.
• Don’t talk to strangers or approach strange vehicles.
• Be aware of your surroundings and travel in well lit and populated areas.

This alert gives notice to numerous Motor Vehicle Thefts that occurred within the
area of the 9th District (Deering). In most of these Motor Vehicle Thefts, the keys to
the vehicle were left in the vehicle, and the unknown offender(s) then took the
vehicle.
Incident times and locations:
• 2400 Block of West 47th Street on March 31, 2017 at 3:15PM.
• 2500 Block of West 47th Street on April 9, 2017 at 11:00AM.
• 2600 Block of West 47th Street on April 21, 2017 at 7:50PM.

About This Crime
• On April 23, 2017, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a female juvenile was playing on
the sidewalk near Jackson and Lockwood. The minor fell off her bicycle and an
unknown offender approached her and put a plastic bag over her head. The
minor got scared and kicked the offender causing him to run away east on
Jackson then south on Lockwood. The minor ran into the home where her
mother was visiting and alerted her mother who then called 911. The victim was
visiting relatives and is not familiar with the neighborhood.
About the Offender and Vehicle
• The offender is a male black, dark complexion, 5 ”5, medium build, approximate
40 years of age, with a bald head. The offender has a tattoo of a heart on his
neck and was wearing a brown long sleeve shirt, black pants, and blue low top
gym shoes.
What You Can Do
• Call 911 to report any suspicious persons or activity
• Walk in pairs
• Don’t talk to strangers or approach strange vehicles
• Be aware of your surroundings travel in well-lit and populated areas

This alert gives notice to businesses in the 9th District (Deering) of robbery incidents
that occurred during the month of April. In these incidents, the offenders approached
the victims and demanded their property. Incident times and locations are listed
below:
• 1400 Block of West 47th Street on April 13, 2017 at 7:00AM.
• 4700 Block of South Justine Street on April 15, 2017 at 11:15PM.
• 3900 Block of South Ashland Avenue on April 22, 2017 at 11:50AM.
About the Offenders:
• One to two unknown male black offenders. 5’07-6’00, 18-30 years of age,
130-160lbs., brown eyes. One male with possible dreadlocks.
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Report suspicious activity immediately
• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth,
etc…)
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
