About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to construction sites operating in the 1st District (Central) of
burglary related incidents during the month of March. Offender(s) cut the chain link
fence or gate locks to enter construction sites. Once inside, the offenders located
management trailers or tool gang boxes, where they forced entry and committed a
theft of power tools, construction equipment and supplies. These incidents occurred
over the weekend when job sites were unattended, during unknown hours, in the
general geographical locations listed below:
Incident times and locations:
• 100 block of E. Cermak Rd. on 10-13 March between 10:45 PM and 6:45 AM
• 1400 block of S. Michigan Ave. on 10-13 March between 4:00 PM and 8:00 AM
About the offenders:
• Unknown.
What you can do:
• Keep the perimeter of your property well lighted
• Update security video equipment
• Report suspicious activity immediately
• Keep doors and windows secured
• Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks
• If you are a victim do not touch anything, call police immediately
