14th Annual Domestic Violence March – 003rd/4th District and Family Rescue
3 Oct 2015

On Friday, October 2, 2015, Family Rescue, a domestic violence agency that provides shelter, counseling, community outreach and court advocacy to victims and survivors of domestic violence, in collaboration with the Chicago Police Department’s 003rd and 4th Districts hosted the 14th Annual Domestic Violence March.

The event began and ended in the heart of the South Chicago community at Bessemer Park. Inside the field house representatives from Family Rescue, CPD Community Policing Officers, NOBLE, YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, Juan Diego Community Center, and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office were among the community organizations that provided resources to the participants.

The march, led by members of the Chicago Police Department’s Mounted Unit, made its way through residential and commercial areas of South Chicago as marchers made their strong stance against domestic violence known.

The evening ended with a candlelight vigil led by Pastor Monte and a balloon release. The event is one of many planned in October in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
