About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several residential burglaries that have occurred in the month of January. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) have entered residences through windows or doors and have taken electronics, jewelry, cash, and other miscellaneous items.

The above offender was arrested and charged with the above offenses after Chicago Police recovered over 300 pounds of suspect cannabis from the offender’s SUV during a traffic stop. Grand Central (025th) District officers observed Hargett commit a traffic violation in the 1700 block of N. Moody after exiting an alley on January 24, 2015, at approximately 7:15 pm. When officers attempted to curb the vehicle, Hargett fled the scene. Hargett then stopped the vehicle in the 6200 block of W. Cortland and fled on foot. Officers subsequently apprehended Hargett a short distance away after he was discovered hiding under a porch. After further investigation, approximately 386 pounds of suspect cannabis was recovered from Hargett’s vehicle, which has an estimated street value of over $1 million. Hargett was charged accordingly.

About This Crime:

On January 20, 2015, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a 10 year-old male and an 8 year old female were walking home from school on the 3900 block of N. Spaulding Ave., when a vehicle containing two male subjects attempted to engage the children in conversation. The passenger of said vehicle requested the children to come over to his vehicle, stating he would offer them a ride home or anywhere they wish to go. After the children didn’t respond, the passenger offered them candy and appeared like he was going to exit his vehicle. The children fled to their residence and the vehicle drove away.

Davonta Owens was arrested after he was identified as the person who shot a 32 year old man in the head on January 21, 2015 at approximately 8:35 p.m. in the 5100 block of S. Calumet. The victim was taken to Stroger hospital in critical condition. Owens was charged accordingly.

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to businesses in the 24th District of armed robberies of pizza delivery drivers occurring in the evening hours. In one incident the victim enteredthe building vestibule, three offenders came down the stairs and robbed the victim at gunpoint and fled. In the second incident the victim was in the building courtyard when after calling the order phone number, two offenders emerged from the gangway and robbed him at gunpoint. The offenders then fled.

About the Crime:

On January 21, 2015 at approximately 3:15 PM, an unknown male in a parked red minivan, attempted to lure a female youth into his vehicle by telling her that her mother told him to pick her up from school. The female youth refused and walked away. The offender at this time fled in the vehicle. This incident occurred in the vicinity of the 4700 block of South Komensky.
