This alert gives notice to citizens in the 012th District of robbery related incidents that have occurred on Beat 1223 during the month of May. In these incidents, the offenders approach the victims and produce a small pointed object then rob them of personal items. Incident times and locations are listed below:

  •  2300 Block of West Madison on May 13, 2015 at approximately 9:30 P.M.
  • 2100 Block of West Madison on May 18, 2015 at approximately 11:00 P.M.

Charges for Wojciech Sadelski Saldeski was arrested and charged  after he fatally stabbed and bludgeoned his 54 year-old mother during a domestic-related altercation inside a residence on May 20, 2015, at approximately 8:10 pm on the 4800 block of S. Karlov Ave.  Sadelski then struck his 30 year-old brother with a hammer and attempted to strike him with a vehicle, before crashing into a garage.  The brother was transported to Christ and is listed in serious condition with lacerations to the head. The offender was charged accordingly. There is no further information available.

Charges for Juvenile _Agg Batt of 7YO_A male juvenile was placed in custody after being identified in connection to an aggravated battery that occurred on the 1300 block of W. 109th Place on May 20, 2015 at approximately 3:20 p.m. During the incident the 7 year old victim sustained a gun shot wound to the shoulder while walking at that location. The victim was taken to Comers Children’s Hospital in stable condition. The juvenile offender was charged accordingly.

There have been three incidents where retail stores have been the victim of a robbery by an offender armed with a knife. The offender enters a business and acts as if he is making a purchase. Once at the sales counter the offender displays a knife and demands money.

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting DUI Strike Force Patrols in the Chicago Lawn (8th) and Near West (12th) Districts this weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Chicago Lawn (8th) District will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22nd, 2015 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23rd, 2015. The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence in the Near West (12th) District at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 24th, 2015.

017thDist Wanted for Burglary_Four recent Burglary related incidents have occurred in the 17th District on beat 1722.  In two cases, unknown offenders pried open the victim’s door and in two other cases, offenders entered through an unlocked door. The offenders have taken jewelry, cash, laptops, and small electronics.

On May 19, 2015 at approximately 9:15 p.m. in the 6100 block of S. Laflin, officers heard shots fired in the area and observed two males running down the street with objects in their hands. Officers attempted to stop these males for investigation and a foot chase ensued. During the foot chase, there was an exchange of gunfire but no injuries were reported. An Officer sustained minor injuries during the foot pursuit and was treated and released from an area hospital. Crenshaw and Watts were arrested and charged accordingly.

Officers responded to a “holding citizen” call in the 3100 block of N Southport on May 18, 2015 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Jaleel Johnson was observed following a 21 year old female into the vestibule of her building. Upon entry, he grabbed her, pushed her to the ground, and took her purse before fleeing. Three male adult witnesses pursued Johnson and caught him a short distance away. They detained him until police arrived. Johnson was identified by the victim as the offender and charged accordingly. The victim refused medical attention and her purse and the contents within were recovered. No further information available at this time.
