This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of garage burglaries that have occurred in the months of September and October. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) made entry into residential garages by cutting a hole in the overhead garage door and then took property.

On October 6, 2015 at approximately 4:45 p.m., a female juvenile was walking west bound on the 5000 block of West Dickens Ave, when a male white Hispanic gestured and stated to the victim “come here, I’ll give you clothes or food”. The victim then ran across the street because a school classmate called her. The offender then entered a multi-unit apartment and exited side door to alley. The victim in fear for her safety fled the scene.

There have been three related Robberies in the 14th, 17th, and 25th districts. In these cases, one male and one female offender approach the victims, display a silver colored handgun and demand property. In one case, the offenders fire the weapon, which is actually a BB gun, striking the victim in the eye. The offenders flee in a Black Honda Coupe, driven by a third offender.

Laquan King was arrested after he was identified as the person who fatally shot two males on August 16, 2015 at approximately 9:45 p.m. This incident occurred on the 1600 block of S. Springfield Avenue. The two victims were playing a dice game when King approached on foot and fired shots. A 16 year old male was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He later succumbed to his injuries. The second victim, a male 19, was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. He was later pronounced. King was charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time.

Douglas was charged with murder in connection to a series of events that took place on December 20, 2013. During the first incident, which took place at approximately 11:20 a.m. in the 800 block of W Irving Park, Douglas hijacked a 60-year-old female’s vehicle and fled the scene. A short time later, the offender, still operating the stolen vehicle struck a car traveling eastbound on Garfield at Halsted thereby causing fatal injuries to a male 11-year-old. Douglas subsequently hijacked a second vehicle and fled the city limits. He was recently extradited from Wisconsin Corrections Department and charged accordingly. No further details are available at this time.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 6th District (Gresham) on Beat 621 of robbery incidents between September 4, 2015 and October 1, 2015. In these incidents, one to two unknown male offender(s) approach their victims and by
use of force, robs the victims of their property. In one incident the offender displayed a handgun and demanded for the victim to “take off everything”.
