This alert gives notice to residents of the 009th District (Deering) of a Criminal Sexual Abuse that occurred on the 2400 block of W. 55th Street on the date of January 24th, at approximately 6:40 p.m. A female victim walked west bound on 55th Street when she was approached from behind by an unknown male offender. The offender grabbed the victim by the hair and touched the victim in an inappropriate manner. The offender then released the victim and fled the area.
This alert gives notice to taxi drivers and Uber drivers operating in the 1st (Central) District of theft / robbery related incidents that occurred during the month of January. Offenders have presented various ruses to distract cab drivers and Uber drivers in order to steal cell phones: Offenders pretended to hand out fliers on the public way while accomplices opened the front passenger door and took the drivers’ phone. Offenders have gotten into cabs for hire and taken cell phones while the driver was distracted by a second rider. In one incident, the accomplice displayed a black handgun.
This alert gives notice to retail stores and restaurants operating in the 001st District (Central) of burglary related incidents during the month of January. An unknown offender is forcibly entering small retail stores or restaurants by breaking glass doors or windows to take cash from registers or offices. These incidents have occurred during early morning hours in the general geographical locations listed in the alert.
This alert gives notice to residents of the South Chicago (004th) District of a recent increase in reported burglaries in the 7700 block of South Kingston. In each incident, the offender(s) made forced entry to the locations via the front or rear door and proceeded to remove property contained therein.

Dannee Brewer, 23 was arrested after he was identified as the person who shot and killed a 37 year old man. This incident occurred in the 4500 block of S. Cicero Ave. on January 16, 2016, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Officers responded to a call of a man shot and discovered the victim unresponsive in the parking lot. The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was later pronounced. Brewer was charged accordingly.
