This alert gives notice to citizens of the Calumet (005th) District of four armed robberies that have taken place. In these incidents one/two male black offenders and a female black offender approached the victim, displayed a handgun, and demanded the victim’s property.
The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Chicago Lawn (8th) District at 6450 S. Western Ave. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22nd, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23rd 2016.
The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Wentworth (2nd) District this weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 24th, 2016.
On January 21, 2016, at approximately 8:00 AM on the 2400 block of West 79th St., an unknown male attempted to lure (3) children (11yr old male, 8 year old male and an 8 year old female) into his vehicle as the children walked to school. The children ran, fleeing to an alley nearby, and then made their way back home where they alerted their mother. The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on 79th St.

About This Crime:
• This alert gives notice to residents of the South Shore (004th) District of recent
armed robberies that occurred along 79th Street at CTA bus stops. In each
incident, the victims were awaiting the arrival of a CTA bus when the offender(s)
approached on foot. The offender(s) then proceeded to produce a firearm and
demand the victim’s property.
Location of Occurrences:
• 2000 block of East 79th Street on December 28, 2015 at approximately 5:12 a.m.
• 3000 block of East 79th Street on December 28, 2015 at approximately 12:45
p.m.
About The Offenders:
• The offender(s) were described as:
One to three male black offenders each believed to be 17 to 20 years of age one
of whom was further described as being approximately 6’02”.
Safety Tips:
• Attempt to travel in the company of others
• Be aware of your surroundings and avoid displaying valuables including cellular
devices
• If confronted by the armed offender, attempt to remain calm.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of any suspicious people
including any vehicle description and license plate information.

There have been three recent Commercial Robberies in the 17th and 20th Districts. In these cases, two offenders or three offenders entered the business, displayed a blue steel handgun and demanded money from the register. The offenders moved the victims to the rear of the store or into a storage area and took money, alcohol, cigarettes and other property.

20Jan16 Chicago Lawn Man charged in Armed Robberies
Willie Clay was arrested after he was involved in a traffic accident in the 2700 Block of West 57th St on January 19, 2016, at 10:07 a.m. The vehicle Clay was driving was reported stolen during a vehicular hijacking which was reported on January 8, 2016, at 5:04 a.m., and was taken from the 1900 North block of Whipple St. Officers discovered a replica of a semi-automatic handgun inside the crashed vehicle. Through the course of the investigation, Clay was identified as the offender in several armed robberies on the City’s West Side and North Side. Clay was transported to Mt Sinai Hospital for treatment of his injuries sustained during the crash and was charged accordingly.
There have been three recent Commercial Robberies in the 17th District. In these cases, one or two offenders entered the business, displayed a silver or blue steel handgun and demanded money from the register. In two cases, a single offender entered the store. In another case, two offenders entered the store.

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 001st (Central) District of robbery related incidents during the month of January. In the early morning hours, two offenders have identified vehicles parked on the street with drivers entering or exiting. Offenders then approached the drivers, displayed black semi-automatic pistols and demanded victim’s wallets, jewelry and cell phones.
