Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Interim Superintendent John Escalante today announced that more than 14,200 individuals recently applied to join the Chicago Police Department, and 71 percent of those who applied are minority applicants. The share of minority applicants is up 13 percent since the previous CPD recruiting campaign in 2013. The latest numbers are driven in part by a recruitment campaign employed by the City of Chicago over the past three months to ensure the Police Department better reflects the makeup of the communities it serves

This alert gives notice to residents in the 025th District of three recent robberies on Beat 2534. In these cases, multiple offenders approached the victims and announced a robbery. The offenders threatened the victims with a firearm and then took the victims’ personal property. In two cases, the offenders were seen fleeing in a small white vehicle, possibly a Chevy.

On February 18, 2016 at approximately 2:46 p.m., Commander Dan Godsel and Sgt. John Hein observed above offender committing a traffic violation in the 4800 block of South Justine. The offender drove away, but parked a short distance later. At which time, the offender attempted to walk away

There have been numerous recent garage burglaries in the 25th District. In these cases, an unknown offender(s) forcibly enters the victim’s garage through the side service door and takes miscellaneous property

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the 12th (Monroe) District. The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol along the Dan Ryan Expressway (3100 South to 6300 South). The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016.
