ROADSIDE SAFETY CHECK – HARRISON (11th) DISTRICT
The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Harrison (11th)
District at 4525 W. Madison. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday,
January 27, 2017 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017.
During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and
watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.
This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely. This is
part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.
The Roadside Safety Check conducted in the Calumet (5th) District at 11800 S. Halsted, on
December 2-3, 2016 resulted in the following:
Driving Under the Influence 2
Driver’s License Violations 16
Insurance Violations 16
Unsafe Vehicle Violations 5
Safety Belt Violations 4
Traffic Violations (Other) 7
Total Citations 48
Vehicles Towed 8

This alert gives notice to businesses in the 008th District (Chicago Lawn) of robbery

related incidents which occurred during the month of January. In these incidents,

the offender(s) entered a store armed with a handgun and demanded property from the cash register.

Incident times and locations are listed below:

3700 Block of W. 79 th Street on 11 January, 2017 at approximately 03:10 P.M.

7000 Block of S. Pulaski Ave on 15 January, 2017 at approximately 06:26 P.M.

3300 Block of W. 79 th Street on 16 January, 2017 at approximately 04:51 P.M.
