This alert gives notice to residents of the 009th District (Deering) of a Robbery/Vehicular Hijacking incident that occurred on the 1700 block of West 47th St. on March 23, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m. A 32-year-old female exited her vehicle and entered into a retail establishment with her vehicle running while still occupied by a 60-year-old female and a 1-year-old female. An unknown male offender entered into the driver’s seat of the vehicle and drove away northbound on Hermitage. After a brief struggle, both victims were able to escape the vehicle on the 4600 block of S. Hermitage. The offender then fled eastbound on 46th St. No injuries were reported in this incident.

About This Crime
On March 27, 2017, at approximately 7:35 a.m., a 13 year-old female was walking to
school in the 900 block of W. Wrightwood Ave., when a vehicle containing one male
subject stopped and called out to the female, attempting to engage her in conversation.
The female continued walking, when approx. a half block later, the vehicle pulled up
again and the subject called out to her a second time. The female continued walking,
ignoring the subject when she pulled out her phone and called for assistance, she lost
sight of the vehicle.
About the Offender
• Male White believed to be in his late teens or early twenties, with dark colored
“shaggy” looking hair. No clothing description was provided. Subject had no
facial hair and was not wearing glasses
About the Vehicle
• White or cream colored. Possibly newer model sedan.
What You Can Do
• Call 911 to report any suspicious persons or activity.
• Walk in pairs.
• Don’t talk to strangers or approach strange vehicles.
• Be aware of your surroundings and travel in well lit and populated areas.

About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to the citizens in the 8th District (Chicago Lawn) of robbery
incidents that occurred during the month of March. In these incidents, the
offender(s) approached the victim and demanded their cell phones and money.
Incident times and locations are listed below:
• 6200 Block of S. Albany Ave on March 05, 2017 at approximately 7:45 P.M.
• 6100 Block of S. Whipple on March 09, 2017 at approximately 12:45 P.M.
• 6100 Block of S. Whipple on March 12, 2017 at approximately 11:30 P.M.
About the Offenders:
• Male/Black, 18-25 years of age, 5’06
• Male/Black, 18-25 years of age, 5’10 to 6’01
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Report suspicious activity immediately
• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth,
etc…)
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
• If video surveillance equipment is present, please save a copy of the incident
for investigating detectives
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 009th District (Deering) of burglary incidents which have occurred during the month of March. In these incidents, offender(s) gain entry by force into residences and take property from therein. These incidents have occurred at various hours of the day in the general geographical locations listed below:

Incident times and locations:

5000 Block of South California Avenue on March 1, 2017 at 8:45AM.

5000 Block of South Artesian on March 4, 2017 at 12:00PM.

5000 Block of South Maplewood on March 13, 2017 between 7:30AM and 5:30PM.

5100 Block of South Washtenaw on March 16, 2017 between 6:00PM and 8:30PM.

  • Keep the perimeter of your property well lit
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • Keep doors and windows secured
