About the Crimes:
On February 28, 2017 at approximately 12:00 a.m., a 25 year old woman was walking to her
vehicle in the 1200 block of West Barry when the offender approached her and displayed a
handgun. The offender then demanded the victim give him all her money. The victim
complied and the offender then forced the victim into her vehicle at gunpoint. Once inside
the victim’s car, the offender sexually assaulted the victim. The offender then fled on foot in
an unknown direction.
On March 9, 2017 at approximately 8:20 p.m., the 24 year old woman was exiting a
residential garage and walking towards a residence on the 3700 block of North Fremont
when the offender approached her from behind and displayed a handgun. The offender then
ordered the victim into the garage where he ordered her to give him all of her belongings.
The offender then ordered the victim into the trunk of her vehicle and sexually assaulted her.
The offender, with the victim now in the truck, drove to several locations in the 5th District
attempting to withdraw money from several ATM’s. The offender then crashed the vehicle on
the 11500 block of South Throop and fled on foot in an unknown direction.
Offender’s Description
Feb, 28, 2017 incident:
• The offender is described as a Male Black, 25-30 years of age, 5’8-5’10, 150-170lbs,
short black hair, medium complexion, short beard/scruff on chin with a mole on his
face. The offender was wearing a brown or green colored sleeveless vest, black
button-downed shirt with white markings across the bottom and dark colored pants.
Mar, 09, 2017 incident:
• The offender is described as a Male Black, 25-35 years of age, 5’10, 160-200lbs,
short black hair, medium complexion, scruffy goatee with a thin mustache. The
offender was wearing a red colored zip up style jacket with brown khaki pants.
** NOTE: Both these incidents are similar and MAY be the same offender however this
has not been confirmed at this time. **
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings.
• Pay special attention to suspicious people loitering in the area and report them to the
police.
• If confronted by an offender, remain calm.
• Remember any unique descriptive characteristics of offenders (Scars, limp, acne, teeth
etc.)
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to police.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender.
• Walk in pairs.

Garage Burglaries

016th District (Jefferson Park)

 About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several garage

burglaries that have occurred in the months of February and March 2017. In these

incidents, unknown offender(s) gain entry by forcibly kicking or prying open the overhead or

side doors. Offender(s) then take construction tools, air compressors, bicycles, and/or lawn

equipment.

Incident times and locations:

There have been several incidents that have occurred since February 25, 2017. These

incidents have taken place on Beat 1622, within the boundaries of Central to Nagle and

Montrose to Peterson, mostly during the evening and overnight hours.

6000 block of W. Gunnison on February 25-26, 2017 between 9:00 PM – 9:00 AM

5800 block of N. Manton on February 28, 2017 at 3:00 AM

4800 block of N. Mulligan on March 04, 2017 between 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

6000 block of W. Gunnison on March 05, 2017 between 3:00 AM – 6:00AM

5800 block of N. Medina on March 08, 2017 between 9:30 PM – 6:15 AM

6100 block of W. Rosedale on March 08, 2017 between 9:00 PM – 6:30 AM

What you can do:

Be aware of this pattern crime and alert your friends and family about these crimes.

Make sure all doors and windows are locked.

Pay special attention to any suspicious subjects loitering in the area.

Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s), including any

vehicle description and license plate information, as well as direction of flight, if known.

About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to businesses in the 009th District (Deering) of robbery
incidents that have occurred during the month of March. In these incidents, the
offenders approached the victims and demanded their property. Incident times and
locations are listed below:
• 4700 Block of South Damen Avenue on March 4, 2017 at 5:20PM.
• 4700 Block of South Damen Avenue on March 4, 2017 at 10:00PM.
About the Offenders:
• Approximately 6 unknown male black(s) and Hispanic(s), 5’09-6’02, 180-
200lbs., 17-21 years of age, brown eyes, black hair.
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Report suspicious activity immediately
• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth,
etc…)
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
• If video surveillance equipment is present, please save a copy of the incident
for investigating detectives
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
