23 Jul 18 – 7th District – Community Alert Wanted for attempted kidnapping JB361450It has been reported that on July 23, 2018 between 8:20 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., an unknown African American male who was driving a white Chevrolet SUV (possibly a Tahoe), attempted to lure/kidnap a 15 year old female from a bus stop located in the 5600 block of S. Ashland Ave. The offender demanded for the victim to get in his vehicle and offered her money.
This alert gives notice to recent Vehicular Hijackings that have occurred within the boundaries of the 19th District. In these robberies, the offender(s) approached the victims while they were sitting in their parked vehicles. The offender(s) opened the driver’s side door and order the victim out of the vehicle. On one occasion an offender(s) displayed a silver semi-automatic handgun. Once the victim complied, the offender(s) fled with the victims’ vehicle.
Gonzalez was arrested on July 22, 2018 at approximately 7:14 a.m. in the 2400 block of South St. Louis. after 10th District officers responded to a call of shots fired. Gonzalez was discovered inside the garage of the property along with a rifle and a gun magazine. Surveillance video revealed Gonzalez in possession of the rifle and Robles discharging the weapon. Robles was apprehended in the 2400 block of S. Homan at 12:37 p.m. and was placed into custody after he was positively identified. Gonzalez is a convicted felon. No further details are available.
23 Jul 18 Community Alert Burglaries 14th District P18-N-193
This alert gives notice to citizens in the 014th District of several burglaries that have occurred recently. In each case, the unknown offender enters the building by prying open the front door. He goes to the garage and steals bicycles from within.
Liberty, Carter and Gordon were arrested in the 400 Block of West 97th St on July 20th, 2018 at approximately 12:46 p.m. in connection with at least two aggravated vehicular hijackings. The first incident occurred in the 5100 Block of South Cornell at approximately 3:15 a.m. and the second incident hours later in the 1700 Block of North Wolcott at approximately 9:10 a.m. on July 20th, 2018. All three men were charged after they were positively identified as being the offenders who approached a 27-year-old man at gunpoint before taking his vehicle and personal belongings and doing the same to a 33-year-old male and female victim hours later. The offenders were observed running eastbound on 97th St after fleeing a hit-and-run traffic accident involving one of the stolen vehicles they were in and placed into custody by responding officers who were tracking one of the stolen cars using the vehicle’s GPS. 21 Jul 18 -Northside Man Charged in Narcotics Seizure
Khaled El-Helo was arrested on July 21st, 2018, at approximately 2:52 a.m. after officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress in the 4400 block of W. Altgeld. Officers discovered the offender in the rear of building with a loaded semi-automatic pistol just a few feet away from the offender. During a walk-through of the property, officers observed a rear basement door with signs of a forced entry. Once inside the officers recovered multiple bins containing 34,000 grams of cannabis and approximately 121 grams of THC oil inside of multiple containers. Through the course of the investigation it was discovered that EL-Helo was renting the property. El- Helo was placed into custody and charged accordingly.
