In these incidents, the unknown offender(s) gained entry by forcibly kicking or prying open the side door(s) or service door(s). The offender(s) also gained entry through unlocked side doors and took the victims’ property.
18 Aug 18-Community Alert 11th District Aggravated Vehicular Hijackings P18-N-215 (CA) NPThis alert gives notice of recent vehicular hijackings that have occurred in the 11th District. In each incident the offenders approached the victims in their cars and ordered them out of their cars at gunpoint. The offenders then fled the scene with the victims’ vehicles.

In each incident, the unknown offender(s) stole the catalytic converters off of the victim’s vehicle(s). The offender(s) committed these acts while the vehicles were parked on residential streets during overnight hours.

In each incident, the unknown offender(s) stole the rims and tires off of the victim’s vehicle(s). The offender(s) committed these acts while the vehicles were parked on residential streets during overnight hours. Honda vehicles are a recurring target.

Porter and Brown were arrested on August 14, 2018 on the 1100 block of W. Fullerton Ave., at approximately 10:22 p.m., after being identified as the armed offenders that robbed a 51-year-old male victim and a 49-year-old female on the 2600 block of N. Bosworth Ave., at approximately 10:00 p.m., moments prior. Porter and Brown were observed by officers fitting the description provided by the victims. The officers attempted to conduct a field interview when suddenly the offender pulled away causing an officer to fall and sustain a fractured hip. After a brief foot pursuit, both offenders were apprehended with a bag of property and a handgun. Further investigation revealed Porter and Brown were the offenders involved in two earlier armed robberies; first in the 1800 block of W. Berenice Ave., at 8:30 p.m., with a 23-year-old male victim and and second in the 2800 block of N. Greenview Ave., at 9:32 p.m., with a 26-year-old male victim. Porter and Brown will appear in Central Bond Court on August 16, 2018. No further information is available at this time.

This alert gives notice in the 012th District (Near West) of robbery incidents which have occurred during the month of August. In these incidents, the offenders approach lone female victims while armed with a handgun, displays the handgun and demands/takes the victim’s property. The offenders flee the scene on foot. These incidents have occurred in the geographical locations listed below.
