12 Sep 18-Man Charged with Aggravated Battery

Pineda Ovalle was arrested on O’hare airport grounds (Parking Lot D) on September 12, 2018 at approximately 12:50 a.m. after he was identified by a 56-year-old male victim and a witness as the individual that stabbed victim with a knife during a verbal altercation. The victim was treated at Lutheran General hospital and his condition has stabilized. Officers recovered a knife on scene. Pineda Ovalle was placed into custody and charged accordingly. Pineda Ovella will appear in Central Bond Court on September 13, 2018. No further information is available.

30 Aug 18- Man Charged with First Degree Murder

Hernandez was identified as the offender who fatally shot and killed an 18 year-old-male victim on April 4, 1994 in the 3900 Block of West Wabansia Ave. Hernandez was located in Mexico and subsequently extradited to the U.S.  Hernandez was taken into custody by Area North Detectives from FBI and U. S. Customs Agents, after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Hernandez appeared in bond court on August 30, 2018. No further information available at this time.

15 Aug 2018 - Two Offenders Charged in Lincoln Park Robberies
Porter and Brown were arrested on August 14, 2018 on the 1100 block of W. Fullerton Ave., at approximately 10:22 p.m., after being identified as the armed offenders that robbed a 51-year-old male victim and a 49-year-old female on the 2600 block of N. Bosworth Ave., at approximately 10:00 p.m., moments prior. Porter and Brown were observed by officers fitting the description provided by the victims. The officers attempted to conduct a field interview when suddenly the offender pulled away causing an officer to fall and sustain a fractured hip. After a brief foot pursuit, both offenders were apprehended with a bag of property and a handgun. Further investigation revealed Porter and Brown were the offenders involved in two earlier armed robberies; first in the 1800 block of W. Berenice Ave., at 8:30 p.m., with a 23-year-old male victim and and second in the 2800 block of N. Greenview Ave., at 9:32 p.m., with a 26-year-old male victim.  Porter and Brown will appear in Central Bond Court on August 16, 2018. No further information is available at this time.

22 Jul 18 - Habitual Offenders charged with unlawful use of a weapon

Gonzalez was arrested on July 22, 2018 at approximately 7:14 a.m. in the 2400 block of South St. Louis. after 10th District officers responded to a call of shots fired. Gonzalez was discovered inside the garage of the property along with a rifle and a gun magazine.  Surveillance video revealed Gonzalez in possession of the rifle and Robles discharging the weapon. Robles was apprehended in the 2400 block of S. Homan at 12:37 p.m. and was placed into custody after he was positively identified.  Gonzalez is a convicted felon.  No further details are available.

Liberty, Carter and Gordon were arrested in the 400 Block of West 97th St  on July 20th, 2018 at approximately 12:46 p.m. in connection with at least two aggravated vehicular hijackings.  The first incident occurred in the 5100 Block of South Cornell at approximately 3:15 a.m. and the second incident hours later in the 1700 Block of North Wolcott at approximately 9:10 a.m. on July 20th, 2018.  All three men were charged after they were positively identified as being the offenders who approached a 27-year-old man at gunpoint before taking his vehicle and personal belongings and doing the same to a 33-year-old male and female victim hours later.  The offenders were observed running eastbound on 97th St after fleeing a hit-and-run traffic accident involving one of the stolen vehicles they were in and placed into custody by responding officers who were tracking one of the stolen cars using the vehicle’s GPS.  No further details are available at this time.21 Jul 18-Three South Side Men Charged in Armed Vehicular Hijacking

15 Jun 18 - Suburban Charged in Battery to an Elderly Person
Mc Math was arrested by 14th District tactical officers on June 15th, 2018 at approximately 2:44 p.m. in the 2000 block of N. Milwaukee after he entered a retail store and ran out without paying for a pair of shoes.  Mc Math was placed into custody and was later recognized by the arresting officers as the individual wanted in an aggravated battery that occurred on June 14, 2018 at approximately 12:05 a.m. in the 1500 block of W. Jarvis Ave.  While riding on a CTA train Mc Math approached a 67 year old female and struck fer in the face with his fist causing serious trauma to the victim’s eye.  The victim was transported to St. Francis hospital where she was treated for her injuries. Mc Math was convicted of Aggravated UUW in March, 2008. No further information is available at this time.
