About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to residents of the 18th (Near North) District of recently
reported robbery/theft incidents of cellphones. The offender(s) approached the
victims from behind, grabbed the victim’s cellphone, and then fled on foot or by
bicycle. During (4) incidents, the offender was reported to have fled in a white
Cadillac vehicle.
Incident times and locations:
• 0-100 block of East Hubbard St., Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the morning.
• 300 block of East Illinois St., Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the evening.
• 300 block of East Illinois St., Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the afternoon.
• 600 block on North Michigan Ave., Monday, August 7, 2017 in the afternoon.
• 900 block of North Wells St., Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in the afternoon.
• 400 block of North Orleans St., Thursday, August 10, 2017 in the morning.
• 200 block of East Ohio St., Thursday, August 10, 2017 in the afternoon.
• 100 block of East Grand Ave., Thursday, August 10, 2017 in the afternoon.
• 200 block of East Delaware Pl., Thursday, August 10, 2017 in the afternoon.
• 200 block of West Kinzie St., Friday, August 11, 2017 in the afternoon.
• 200 block of East Delaware Pl., Friday, August 11, 2017 in the afternoon.
• 600 block of North Lake Shore Dr., Friday, August 11, 2017 in the afternoon.
About the Offenders:
(2) Male, African Americans, described as 510-600, 130-150lbs, 15-20 years of age,
with dreads (hairstyle) and the second described only as male African American, 18-
24 years of age.
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings.
• If confronted by an assailant, remain calm.
• Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, tattoos, acne, limps, etc).
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide information to the police.
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of any suspicious people
including any vehicle description and license plate information.

Thefts- Catalytic Converter

4th District

(South Chicago)

 

 

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice of recent Thefts of Catalytic Converters that have occurred within the boundaries of the 4th District (South Chicago). In these incidents, the unknown offender(s) cut the catalytic converters off of victims’ vehicles sometime during the night.

 

 

Incident times and locations:

  • 13254 S. Houston Ave. 12 August 2017 at 3:00pm-04:20am.
  • 10342 S. Avenue H, 14 August 2017 at 6:15pm-06:00am.
  • 8630 S. Colfax Ave 15 August 2017, 01:30am-08:00am.
  • 8800 S. Oglesby, 14 August, 9:30pm.

Community Alert

Garage Burglaries

016th District (Jefferson Park)

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several garage

burglaries that occurred during the month of August 2017. In these incidents, unknown

offender(s) gained entry by forcibly kicking or prying open the overhead/side door and

windows. Offender(s) then removed construction tools, bicycles, lawn equipment, snow

blower, lawn care equipment, laptops, jewelry, USC.

Incident times and locations:

There have been several incidents that have occurred since August 9, 2017. These

incidents have taken place on Beat 1632, within the boundaries of Belmont to

Montrose/Forest Preserve Drive and Narragansett to Harlem.

3200 block of N. Neenah on August 09, 2017 at between 12:01 AM – 5:00 AM

3400 block of N. Neva on August 10-11, 2017 between 8:00 PM – 5:00 AM

3200 block of N. Neenah on August 10, 2017 at 5:00 PM

3400 block of N. Nottingham on August 10-11, 2017 between 6:00 PM – 7:50 AM

3900 block of N. Nordica on August 11-12, 2017 between 10:00 PM – 10:00 AM

What you can do:

Be aware of this pattern crime and alert your friends and family about these crimes.

Make sure all doors and windows are locked.

Pay special attention to any suspicious subjects loitering in the area.

Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s), including any

vehicle description and license plate information, as well as direction of flight, if known.
