Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since 2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.
Detectives Ask for Help in Identifying Owners of Stolen Property
During a recent investigation into a string of burglaries committed in the 19th (Town Hall) and 20th (Lincoln) Districts, Chicago Police recovered numerous unclaimed items, all believed to be stolen, including cameras, laptops and jewelry.
On Friday, December 5th, 2014, Area North Detectives invited the public to view, identify, and claim their stolen property. However, several items remain unclaimed and Area North detectives continue to seek their rightful owners. Anyone who has been the victim of a burglary in the above mentioned area, and believes that any of these items may be theirs, is encouraged to contact the Bureau of Detectives – Area North Property Crimes at (312) 744-8263.
