Responding Officers Perform CPR and Help Save a Man’s Life
Chicago Police Officers respond to an “Assist CFD” call in the 3100 block of N. Marmora this morning at 8:20 a.m. First responders on the scene, Field Training Officer Robert Cavaiani and Probationary Police Officer Nicholas Picicci, located a 62 year old man inside his residence having a medical emergency. The man was unresponsive and not breathing. Officers immediately began CPR and continued until CFD arrived. The Chicago Fire Department transported the man to Community First Hospital where he was stabilized. Staff at the hospital accredits the actions of responding Officers as a key factor in helping save this man’s life. This is P.P.O. Picicci’s first day on the job and one he won’t forget.
Mayor Emanuel, Superintendent McCarthy Launch Police Recruitment Campaign
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since 2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.
