Deering (9th) District Commander Apprehends Burglary Offenders While En Route to Deliver Custom Notification Letter
Israel Diaz, 25, and George Milero, 38, were arrested after they were identified as the offenders who were observed breaking into a home in the 1600 block of West 38th Pl. on February 2, 2016 at approximately 10:22 a.m. Deering (9th) District Commander Daniel Godsel was en route to deliver a custom notification letter as part of CPD’s focused deterrence efforts to reduce gang violence when he heard a dispatch call of a burglary-in-progress at the above address. When the Commander and a Deering (9th) District Sergeant arrived, pry marks were on the front door and two offenders were inside the residence. The Commander and Sergeant detained the offenders and subsequently placed them into custody. Diaz and Milero, documented gang members and convicted felons, were charged accordingly.

Mayor Emanuel, Superintendent McCarthy Launch Police Recruitment Campaign
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since 2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.
