On April 18, 2012, the Superintendent of Police filed with the Police Board of the City of Chicago charges against a police officer, recommending that the Respondent be discharged from the Chicago Police Department for violating Department Rules 2, 3, 6, 14, 23 and 24. The Police Board convened a hearing on these charges against the Respondent on October 9, November 20, and December 10, 2012.

The Police Board found the officer guilty in that on or about June 14, 2008 the Respondent violated the rules that govern when an officer is allowed to work while on the medical roll.

As a result, the Police Board determined that cause existed for suspending the Respondent from his position as a police officer with the Department of Police, and from the services of the City of Chicago, for a period of twenty (20) days.
