Thank you for visiting the Chicago Police Department’s public comment forum for the Command Channel Review policy. This directive outlines the Command Channel Review process for Department complaint register investigations (full disciplinary investigations of an allegation of misconduct), whether investigated by the Department or the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), including assignment, timeframes, procedures, and accountability review. This directive was revised pursuant to paragraph 498 of the Consent Decree requiring the Command Channel Review process to be conducted within 30 days.
As part of our ongoing mission to grow trust within the communities we serve, CPD will take comments from public on the Command Channel Review policy for 15 days beginning on Oct. 8, 2019. This public comment period will close Oct. 23, 2019 , and CPD will take public comments into consideration before finalizing the policy.
