Burglaries in which the offender targeted high-end clothing stores have occurred in the 014th District (Shakespeare) on the 1700 block of North Damen Avenue from November 21 – December 3, 2015. The offenders made forcible entry to a clothing store and removed a large quantity of merchandise. A cash register was also stolen. The burglaries were captured on surveillance video. The offenders may have fled the scene in a rental truck, possibly a U-Haul.

CPD Community Alert Robberies14th and 19thdistrict Two or three male, black offenders approach their victims, and rob them at gunpoint, and in several incidents the victims are pistol-whipped or an offender fires a shot that misses; in one incident a shot was fired and the victim sustained a gunshot wound to his hand. The offenders flee on foot, or are seen fleeing to a waiting car. The car has been described as a black Toyota Prius, a red Nissan Altima, or a blue car of an unknown make

The Chicago Police Department, 012th District (Near West) is hosting the last city-wide Child Car Seat Check Event of 2015. The event is taking place in the covered parking lot of the West Loop Target store located at 1101 West Jackson on Saturday, November 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians from CPD Districts across the city, UIC Police Department and the Illinois Secretary of State will be providing the FREE child car seat checks for the public at this event.

Robberies in which the offender is armed with a knife are occurring in the 014th District (Shakespeare) . In each case, offender enters a small restaurant or convenience store, and announces a robbery. He brandishes a butcher knife, or implies that he is holding a handgun.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since  2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 014th District (Shakespeare) of two robbery incidents that occurred recently.

In the first incident male black and female black offenders approached a female victim and robbed her at gunpoint. Offenders then took her in their vehicle to various locations to withdraw money from ATMs. In the second incident offenders robbed the female victim and attempted to take her into their car without success.

There have been three related Robberies in the 14th, 17th, and 25th districts. In these cases, one male and one female offender approach the victims, display a silver colored handgun and demand property. In one case, the offenders fire the weapon, which is actually a BB gun, striking the victim in the eye. The offenders flee in a Black Honda Coupe, driven by a third offender.

On September 20, 2015 at approximately 4:00 p.m., an unknown Hispanic male offender exposed himself from the alley to a female victim while she was with her 3- year-old daughter in a park located in the 2800 block of N. Avondale Avenue.
