This alert gives notice to Armed Robberies that have occurred in the 015th District (Austin) covering the area of Ohio to Chicago, and Laramie to Cicero. In these robberies, two or three offenders armed with handguns, robbed victims on the street.
CPD ADVISORY- CPD Displays Stolen Items Eligible for Recovery
CHICAGO – The Chicago Police Department’s Asset Forfeiture Unit conducted a search warrant on June 30, 2016 in the 5600 block of West Augusta Blvd. The target of the search warrant admitted to selling stolen items for the past ten years.
Jerome Brown, 53, of the 5600 block of West Augusta Blvd., was charged with one count of felony theft/stolen/ > $500 < 10,000. The Asset Forfeiture Unit was provided with information that the offender had been selling stolen items out of his home. The unit utilized undercover officers to corroborate these facts in order to obtain a search warrant.
It was discovered that the offender had established a large-scale trafficking operation from the home. The types of items recovered include (but are not limited to) bicycles, snow blowers, landscaping equipment, chainsaws, ladders, construction grade equipment, power tools, and tool boxes.
Victims who have had property stolen are invited to view the recovered items in the 015th District Police Station Community Room, located at 5701 W. Madison Ave. Viewing will be available on Friday July 15th from 7:00am to 7:00pm as well as Saturday July 16th from 8:00am to 3:00pm.
It appears that the items originated in the Cook County area. Victims attending the viewing should bring identification, proof of purchase, copy of police report, as well as any evidence related to their loss (i.e. video, pictures, or witnesses). Detectives will be in attendance to assist victims with recovering their property.

CPD COMMUNITY ALERT- Robberies 015th District
This alert gives notice to the citizens residing in the 015th District (Austin) of Robbery related incidents that have occurred during the months of June and July. In these incidents, a group of 1-3 offenders, approximately 18-26 years of age, approached the victim(s), displayed a handgun and forcibly took the victim’s property.
DUI Strike Force Patrols – Austin (15th) & Rogers Park (24th) Districts
The Chicago Police Department will be conducting DUI Strike Force Patrols in the Austin (15th) and Rogers Park (24th) Districts this upcoming weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Austin (15th) District will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016; the DUI Strike Force Patrol set to be conducted in the Rogers Park (24th) District will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016.

015th District Community Alert- Burglaries
CPD Community Alert- Robberies in the 015th (Austin) District
This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 015th District (Austin) of an increase in Robbery related incidents that have occurred during the month of April and May. In these incidents, an unknown offender exits out the passenger side of an unknown grey vehicle, possibly a BMW, displays a handgun and robs the victim of their cell phones and currency.
Irving Park Man Charged in Two Shootings
Daniel Zampini, 26, was arrested after he was identified as the person who shot a 38-year-old man on April 15, 2016, at approximately 1:10 a.m., in the 0-100 block of S. Mayfield. The victim was standing outside when shots were fired from a passing black car. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition with 2 gunshot wounds to the abdomen. Zampini was also identified as the man who fired shots at a vehicle minutes prior. This incident occurred on 100 block of N. Austin at approximately 1:05 a.m. A 20-year-old female and 20-year-old male were driving when Zampini pulled alongside them and fired shots. They were not injured in the incident. Zampini was charged accordingly.
CPD Business Alert- Burglaries in the 015 (Austin) District
This alert gives notice to businesses in the 015th District (Austin) of Burglary related incidents that have occurred in the months of March and April. In these incidents, an unknown offender(s) pried open the front/rear door of the business and removed electronic items and cash. In one incident, the offender(s) disconnected the power to the business and attempted to pry open an ATM machine.
