This alert gives notice to the residents in the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several residential burglaries that have occurred in the month of September and October. These incidents took place on Beat 1624, within the boundaries of Cicero Ave. to Narragansett Ave. and Montrose Ave. to Irving Park Rd. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) entered the apartments and residences, through rear doors or rear windows, and took property from within.
This alert gives notice to residents in the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several garage burglaries that have occurred on Beat 1613, since July 29, 2018. In these incidents, the unknown offender(s) gained entry by forcibly kicking or prying open the side door(s) or service door(s). The offender(s) also gained entry through unlocked side doors and took the victims’ property.
13 Aug 18 Attempt Child Luring 16th District
On August 12, 2018 at approximately 5:30 p.m., the 9 year old male victim was riding his bicycle northbound on the 6400 block of North Natoma Avenue while accompanied by his mother. The two unknown offenders riding in a red pick-up truck approached the mouth of the alley heading westbound between Imlay St. and Schreiber Ave. The male passenger of the vehicle asked the victim if he was alright at which time the female driver asked the victim if he needed a ride anywhere. The victim replied “no, my mother is right over there”, at which time the vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed northbound on Natoma Ave. and then Eastbound on Schreiber Ave.
13 AUG 18- 016th District Community Alert (P18-N-209) Catalytic Converters Thefts
Numerous catalytic converter thefts have occurred in the 016th District. The catalytic converter thefts typically occurred at night or very early morning hours when vehicles were parked for prolonged periods of time. Unknown offender(s) cut and removed the catalytic converter.
On Tuesday, 17 July 2018, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a 4 year old female juvenile was in front of her house on the 4000 block of North Plainfield when she was approached by a white van containing three males, possible male White or male Hispanic, 20-30 yrs old. The van stopped in the middle of the street and asked the victim “Hey, I’ve got candy for you.” The victim did not engage in conversation and fled to the safety of her house.
