This alert gives notice to businesses in the 018th District (Near North) of an increase in Commercial Burglary related incidents during the month of December. In these incidents, the offender(s) force entry to a commercial establishment (usually by breaking a window) and remove property from within. These incidents have occurred in the early morning hours of the day.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 018th District (Near North) of Robbery related incidents during the month of November/December. In these incidents, 2-3 armed offenders exited a vehicle, approached victims on the street and demanded $USC.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 018th District (Near North) of an increase in Auto Theft related incidents during the month of November. In these incidents victims are leaving their vehicles running and unattended and offenders are taking the vehicles. These incidents have occurred in all hours of the day.

This alert gives notice to residents of the 018th District (Near North) of Burglary related incidents during the month of November. In these incidents, an offender makes entry into a residence by breaking the glass on a window or door and proceeds to remove property from within .

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since  2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.

This alert gives notice to residents and visitors to the Lincoln Park area of the 018th District of an Attempt Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault. A 43 year old female was attacked by an unknown male offender while she was exercising along a walking path near 1755 N. Stockton Drive (within the park, east of Stockton Drive and north of LaSalle St.) The offender hit the victim with an unknown object and attempted to sexually assault her. The offender was unsuccessful and the victim was able to get away and notify police.
