Rogers Park (024th) District Officers were on patrol when multiple shots were fired by an unknown offender(s). An officer, perceiving that they were being fired upon, discharged his weapon. The offender(s) fled the scene in a vehicle and is not in custody at this time. Efforts are underway to locate the offending vehicle and offender(s). It is unknown if any offender(s) sustained injuries from this incident. No injuries to officers have been reported.

In one incident the offender then kicked in an interior door and cut through drywall to access the first floor. The security video captured the offender’s movement throughout the store. The offender(s) took a guitar, laptop computer, misc. tools, U.S.C., watches and a ring. Incident times and locations are listed below:
Missing was staying with daughter on 3000 block of E. 79th and got up in the middle of the night and left the residence. Missing resides in Rogers Park on 7300 block of North Ridge. Missing is deaf and in the early stages of dementia. Missing has used the red line trains to go from South to North side. Recent Armed Robberies have occurred on the public way in the 024th District during which one offender, who is armed with a black handgun, approaches the victim from behind and points the gun at the victim’s head while demanding that the victims give him everything they have. The offender took a purse, cell phones, and U.S.C. Incident times and locations are listed below:
This alert gives notice to residents of the 017th, 020th and 024th District of eight Robberies that occurred in the late evening to early morning hours of December 2015. The Robberies occurred on the sidewalk, alley and streets. Multiple offenders exited a vehicle and approached the victim and displayed a handgun and demanded property.
Alston Rodriguez, 18 was arrested after officers observed him attempting to illegally enter a residence through a window in the 2100 block of West Rosemont. This incident occurred on December 24, 2015 at approximately 1:00 a.m. Rodriguez was identified as the offender in multiple residential burglaries in the area and officers were able to recover proceeds that included several Christmas gifts. Rodriguez was charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time.
Milton Anderson was arrested and charged in connection to a sexual assault and armed robbery that occurred on the 1400 block of W. Jarvis on December 19, 2015, at approximately 4:40 a.m. Anderson grabbed a 25 year-old female victim from behind as she was walking on the sidewalk. Anderson then displayed a handgun and forced the victim to a secluded area where he robbed and sexually assaulted her. Area North detectives immediately issued a Community Alert with CTA surveillance photos of the offender and was distributed to media outlets. Anderson then walked into Alderman Joe Moore’s office and later turned himself in to Area North Detectives accompanied by Alderman Moore. Anderson was positively identified by the victim and charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time.
On December 19, 2015 at approximately 4:40 a.m., the 25-year-old female victim and the offender were passengers on a CTA Red Line Train. As the victim exited the Red Line EL train station at Jarvis Avenue, the offender followed her out. He subsequently grabbed the victim from behind as she was walking on the 1400 block of W. Jarvis. Next, the offender displayed a handgun and forced the victim to a secluded area where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.
Recent Armed Robberies have occurred in the 024th District during which food delivery drivers have been approached near their point of delivery by an offender who is armed with or implies that he has a handgun and announces a robbery.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since 2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.
