27Feb16Robberies18thdistrictCAThis alert gives notice to citizens of the 018th District (Near North) of an increase in Robbery related incidents during the month of February. In these incidents, three male black offenders approach a victim on the street, produce a black, semi-automatic handgun and demand the victim’s property. These incidents have occurred in the late evening hours of the day in the general geographical locations listed below:
Lamon Weathers was arrested after he was identified as the man who murdered 58-year-old Kamil Shamji. Shamji was discovered inside his taxi cab with a gunshot wound to the head on February 22, 2016, at approximately 7:55 a.m. This incident occurred in the 4400 block of N. Leavitt. Kamil Shamji was pronounced on the scene. Lamon Weathers was charged accordingly.
Armani Bearden was arrested in connection with the murder of a 64-year-old man. This incident occurred on the 6500 block of N. Hoyne Avenue on December 10, 2015, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Three others have previously been charged – Shatrata Lehmann, Alexander Robinson and a male juvenile. Click here for more information.
Dennis T. Long, 54 was arrested and charged in connection to an incident that occurred on January 21, 2016, in the 4300 block of N. Cicero Avenue at approximately 10:45 a.m. An employee of a storage facility was emptying a storage unit for lack of payment when he inadvertently discovered sexually explicit photos of minors, as well as other suspicious articles, in a piece of furniture that was being discarded. Chicago Police were notified and further investigation led to charges against the offender who was listed as the lessee of the storage unit in question. Click here for more information.
There have been four recent robberies of Pizza Delivery Drivers in the 017th District. In each of these cases a food order was placed, but when the driver arrived to make the delivery multiple offenders approached him, displayed a weapon, and took the driver’s wallet, phone, and food order. In one case, the offender displayed a handgun. In all of the cases, at least one offender was armed with a knife.
This alert gives notice to residents in the 025th District of three recent robberies on Beat 2534. In these cases, multiple offenders approached the victims and announced a robbery. The offenders threatened the victims with a firearm and then took the victims’ personal property. In two cases, the offenders were seen fleeing in a small white vehicle, possibly a Chevy.
There have been numerous recent garage burglaries in the 25th District. In these cases, an unknown offender(s) forcibly enters the victim’s garage through the side service door and takes miscellaneous property
13Feb16025AttemptChildLuringCommunity Alert On February 8, 2016 at approximately 5:00 p.m., two female juvenile victims were walking east bound on the 6300 block of West Barry Ave. The victims observed a vehicle that was parked in front of Steinmetz High School. As the victims walked past the vehicle, the passenger of the vehicle asked them “do you need a ride?” The victims continued to walk north bound on Mobile Ave towards Belmont Ave. The driver of the vehicle then asked “do you want to make some money?” The victims in fear for their safety then fled the area and immediately reported the incident to their parents. The unknown offenders then fled east bound on Barry Ave.
On Friday February 5, 2016 approximately 6:38 P.M. 25-year old Aaren O’Connor was shot while sitting in her car on the 2000 block of west 21st Street in Chicago. Aaren died from her wound.
