Englewood (007th) District Officers received multiple calls of “person with a gun/home invasion” on the 7300 block of S. Paulina around 4:40 a.m. Responding officers were met by an armed offender and shots were exchanged. The offender was fatally wounded and a weapon was recovered. There were no injuries to officers.
This alert gives notice to businesses in the 006th District of several armed robbery incidents that have occurred in the Gresham neighborhood. In two of the incidents, the described offender entered the business and allowed other customers to go ahead of him so that he was the last one in line and the only one in the business. The suspect in both incidents made a purchase then announced a robbery while pointing a hand gun at the clerk. The images included are from the robbery that occurred on Jan. 19th, 2016 on the 300 block of East 87th St.
This alert gives notice to residents of the South Chicago (004th) District of a recent increase in reported burglaries in the 7700 block of South Kingston. In each incident, the offender(s) made forced entry to the locations via the front or rear door and proceeded to remove property contained therein.
Dannee Brewer, 23 was arrested after he was identified as the person who shot and killed a 37-year-old man. This incident occurred in the 4500 block of S. Cicero Ave. on January 16, 2016, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Officers responded to a call of a man shot and discovered the victim unresponsive in the parking lot. The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was later pronounced. Brewer was charged accordingly.

This alert gives notice to residents of the 022 District of recent Theft from Vehicle incidents that occurred in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood. Unknown offender(s) have taken items from unlocked vehicles. There have been six vehicles that have been entered in this area during January 2016, occurring mostly between 2am-5am.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the Calumet (005th) District of four armed robberies that have taken place. In these incidents one/two male black offenders and a female black offender approached the victim, displayed a handgun, and demanded the victim’s property.
CHICAGO – Today, Chicago Police Department Interim Superintendent John J. Escalante and Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, announced a renewed partnership in targeting violence and gangs that pose a threat to the City of Chicago.
The efforts include gun and narcotics investigations, traffic stops, identifying and arresting individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. Beginning Wednesday, efforts will be taking place in the Harrison (11th) and Austin (15th) Districts, covering much of Chicago’s western neighborhoods most affected by gang violence. This partnership will continue sporadically through the end of the month.

The event serves to recognize officers who have distinguished themselves and the Chicago Police Department by their exemplary behavior and praiseworthy deeds.
On Thursday, January 7, 2016 at approximately 8:41 a.m., a 12-year-old male child was riding a crowded #4 Cottage Grove bus southbound on his way to school. On four different occasions, the child was approached by an unknown male and asked to move so that other passengers could get off the bus. When the child complied, the unknown male touched the child inappropriately. The unknown male exited the bus at 8700 S. Cottage Grove
