CHICAGO – Today, Chicago Police Department Interim Superintendent John J. Escalante and Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, announced a renewed partnership in targeting violence and gangs that pose a threat to the City of Chicago.

The efforts include gun and narcotics investigations, traffic stops, identifying and arresting individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. Beginning Wednesday, efforts will be taking place in the Harrison (11th) and Austin (15th) Districts, covering much of Chicago’s western neighborhoods most affected by gang violence. This partnership will continue sporadically through the end of the month.

This alert gives notice to residents in the 12th District of robbery related incidents that have occurred on Beats 1223 and 1225. In these incidents, two to three offenders approach the victim on the street and display a handgun. The offenders announce a robbery and take the victim’s personal property or vehicle. Incident times and locations are listed below:

  • 2300 block of W. Monroe on January 12, 2016 at approximately 7:00 A.M.
  • 200 block of S. Western on January 13, 2016 at approximately 1:00 P.M.
  • 2100 block of W. Maypole on January 15, 2016 at approximately 7:00 P.M.

About the offenders:

Two to three male blacks between 20-30 years of age, weighing between 150-190 lbs. armed with a handgun

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 17th (Albany Park) District of recent residential burglaries that have occurred to residences on Beats 1732 and 1733. On Thursday, January 7, 2016 at approximately 8:41 a.m., a 12-year-old male child was riding a crowded #4 Cottage Grove bus southbound on his way to school. On four different occasions, the child was approached by an unknown male and asked to move so that other passengers could get off the bus. When the child complied, the unknown male touched the child inappropriately. The unknown male exited the bus at 8700 S. Cottage Grove

In these incidents, unknown offender(s) have shattered the front glass/window of the business or pried open the front or rear door to gain access. Offender(s) have also gained entry by forcibly opening the drive-thru window. Once inside the business, the offender(s) remove currency and other items

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Albany Park (17th) District this weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16th, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 17th, 2016. The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt
violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding
