Garage Burglaries

016th District (Jefferson Park)

 About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several garage

burglaries that have occurred in the months of February and March 2017. In these

incidents, unknown offender(s) gain entry by forcibly kicking or prying open the overhead or

side doors. Offender(s) then take construction tools, air compressors, bicycles, and/or lawn

equipment.

Incident times and locations:

There have been several incidents that have occurred since February 25, 2017. These

incidents have taken place on Beat 1622, within the boundaries of Central to Nagle and

Montrose to Peterson, mostly during the evening and overnight hours.

6000 block of W. Gunnison on February 25-26, 2017 between 9:00 PM – 9:00 AM

5800 block of N. Manton on February 28, 2017 at 3:00 AM

4800 block of N. Mulligan on March 04, 2017 between 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

6000 block of W. Gunnison on March 05, 2017 between 3:00 AM – 6:00AM

5800 block of N. Medina on March 08, 2017 between 9:30 PM – 6:15 AM

6100 block of W. Rosedale on March 08, 2017 between 9:00 PM – 6:30 AM

What you can do:

Be aware of this pattern crime and alert your friends and family about these crimes.

Make sure all doors and windows are locked.

Pay special attention to any suspicious subjects loitering in the area.

Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s), including any

vehicle description and license plate information, as well as direction of flight, if known.

About the Crime:
On February 28, 2017 at approximately 12:00 a.m, a 25 year old woman was walking to her vehicle in the 1200 block of West Barry when a male approached her and displayed a handgun. The male then demanded the victim give him all her money. The victim complied and the offender then forced the victim into her vehicle at gunpoint. Once inside the victim’s car, the offender sexually assaulted the victim. The offender then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
Offender’s Description
The offender is described as a Male Black, 25-30 years of age, 5’8-5’10, 150-170lbs, black short hair, medium complexion, short beard/scruff on chin.
What you can do:
•Always be aware of your surroundings.
•Pay special attention to suspicious people loitering in the area and report them to
the police.
•If confronted by an offender, remain calm.
•Remember any unique descriptive characteristics of
offenders (Scars, limp, acne,
teeth etc.)
•Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to police.
•Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender.
•Walk in pairs

Armed Robberies

011th District (Harrison)

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice of recent Armed Robberies that have occurred in the 011th District. In

each incident, the offenders approached the victims, displayed a black handgun and

demanded money and property from the victims. Incident times and locations are listed

below:

 500 Block of North Kedzie Avenue on January 30, 2017 at 7:00 pm.

3200 Block of West Chicago Avenue on February 18, 2017 at 2:35 am.

3500 Block of West Chicago Avenue on February 21, 2017 at 8:30 am.

 

About the Offender:

Male black, 20 to 22 years-old, 5’03 to 5’07, 150 pounds

Male black, 40 to 60 years-old, 5’08 to 6’01, 170 to 200 pounds, gray hair

 

What you can do:

Always be aware of your surroundings

Report suspicious activity immediately

If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm

Remember any unique physical characteristics (ie., scars, limp, acne, teeth)

Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police

If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information

Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible

Chicago Police are seeking to identify the pictured individual who is the offender in a burglary that occurred at approximately 3:00a.m. on February 5, 2017 in the 1000 block of North Clark. As the victim was sleeping, the pictured offender opened her unlocked door and entered her apartment, taking numerous credit cards and money.
