The Chicago Police Department is committed to providing accessible, actionable, and transparent data, to instill and maintain constitutional policing.

CPD will leverage data to ensure constitutional policing by: systematically collecting enough data to have a broad-based understanding of officers’ interactions with the public; managing and reviewing the data to ensure it accurately reflect those interactions; analyzing the data to identify trends or areas of concern; developing tailored support and interventions to address behavior that is or may become problematic; and assessing the effectiveness of attempts to modify officers’ behavior.

As we continue to review and update our policies on data collection, analysis and management, we welcome you to join us in making CPD a better department for all of Chicago.
