Effective supervision plays a critical role in ensuring safe, effective, and community-centered policing throughout the Chicago Police Department.

Reforms to supervisory practices mandated by the consent decree empower our supervisors to monitor and train officers under their direct command, and also enable them to prevent, identify, and correct adverse behavior.

CPD will commit resources to increase the quality of field supervision, and improve supervisory and officer accountability.

Our performance evaluation process enables Department leaders to identify, support, and recognize members who perform their duties lawfully, safely, and effectively.
It will also help our leaders identify and respond to members who perform poorly, demonstrate adverse behaviors, or engage in conduct that undermines public safety and community trust.

As we continue to work toward reform and consent decree compliance, I welcome you to join us in making CPD a better department for all of Chicago.
