Mattison and Gipson were arrested on June 23, 2016. Officers responded to a call of a person with a gun in the 0-99 block of East 42nd St on June 21, 2016 at 4:28pm. As officers arrived on scene they observed the offending vehicle attempting to flee, and consequently strike another vehicle in traffic. This collision resulted in the death of the 3rd occupant inside the offenders’ vehicle. Mattison (a passenger) was identified as the person who pointed a handgun out of the window of the vehicle prior to the accident. Gipson (the driver) is currently in stable condition at Stroger Hospital. Passengers of other vehicle, Female, 29, and Male, 6, were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition with minor injuries. The offenders were charged accordingly.
