On Thursday, August 30, 2018, at approximately 1:55 p.m., a black colored Ford Crown Victoria vehicle bearing Illinois License Plate AJ81664, was traveling southbound in the 1200 block of South Halsted St.  The Ford struck a 60 year old pedestrian, who was on a stand-up lawn mower, resulting in serious personal injuries.  After the impact, the driver of the Ford vehicle fled southbound on Halsted Street failing to leave identification or render aid to the injured.  The Ford Crown Victoria vehicle has extensive front end damage.

On August 14, 2018, at 11:22 p.m., as the victim was preparing to enter a property, she observed the offender riding a bike on the street, in circles.  The victim entered the property and locked the gate behind her.  Several minutes later, the victim went outside and observed the offender in the yard.  The offender had apparently climbed the fence to gain access to the front yard. In the yard, the offender displayed a handgun, demanded money, and sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene.

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 9^th District (Deering) of burglary incidents which have occurred during the month of August.  In these incidents, the offender(s) gained entry into the residences by force and took property from therein.
