On Thursday, August 30, 2018, at approximately 1:55 p.m., a black colored Ford Crown Victoria vehicle bearing Illinois License Plate AJ81664, was traveling southbound in the 1200 block of South Halsted St. The Ford struck a 60 year old pedestrian, who was on a stand-up lawn mower, resulting in serious personal injuries. After the impact, the driver of the Ford vehicle fled southbound on Halsted Street failing to leave identification or render aid to the injured. The Ford Crown Victoria vehicle has extensive front end damage.
There have been recent Commercial Robberies that have occurred in the 17th District at restaurants and retail establishments. In two incidents, the offender entered the business, displayed a firearm and demanded money from the cash register. In one incident, the offender entered the business and implied that he had a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. In the most recent incident, the offender entered the business, demanded money from the cash register without displaying a weapon.
On August 9, 2018 at approximately 1:25 a.m. in the 800 block of West Wrightwood Ave, the unknown above pictured subject committed an act of Arm Robbery with a firearm. As the victims were walking west on Wrightwood the offenders approached from behind, displayed a firearm, and took the victims’ belongings
Hernandez was identified as the offender who fatally shot and killed an 18 year-old-male victim on April 4, 1994 in the 3900 Block of West Wabansia Ave. Hernandez was located in Mexico and subsequently extradited to the U.S. Hernandez was taken into custody by Area North Detectives from FBI and U. S. Customs Agents, after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Hernandez appeared in bond court on August 30, 2018. No further information available at this time.
On August 14, 2018, at 11:22 p.m., as the victim was preparing to enter a property, she observed the offender riding a bike on the street, in circles. The victim entered the property and locked the gate behind her. Several minutes later, the victim went outside and observed the offender in the yard. The offender had apparently climbed the fence to gain access to the front yard. In the yard, the offender displayed a handgun, demanded money, and sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene.
This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 9th District (Deering) of burglary incidents which have occurred during the month of August. In these incidents, the offender(s) gained entry into the residences by force and took property from therein.
