This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 008 th District (Chicago Lawn) of burglary incidents which have occurred during the month of September. In these incidents, offender(s) gain entry into the residence through a rear door/ side window and take property from therein.

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 003rd District a recent Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault incident. On Thursday, September 24, 2016 at approximately 9:45 P.M., a female victim was jogging northbound on the lake front trail, in the area of South Shore Dr. and 68th Street. A male ran up behind the victim, grabbed and then shoved the victim into a fence while attempting to sexually assault her. Offender fled westbound on 68th Street.

There have been three Commercial Robberies in the 16th District. In these cases, a male offender enters the business, displays a knife and demands money from the register.

On September 27, 2016, the Firearm Investigation Team concluded an investigation of a FOID card holder who illegally put guns on the street. The investigation revealed that Simone Mousheh, a 22-year-old female, purchased a Glock 23, a 40 caliber firearm but soon thereafter reported it stolen. The weapon was later recovered from a juvenile offender in the 010th police district. Mousheh called Sgt. Dickerson from the Firearms Investigation Team and inquired as to how to get her stolen firearm back. Further investigation by Sgt. Dickerson’s team revealed that Mousheh had purchased four Glock firearms within 6 months. Each weapon costs approximately $600.

This update, based on these recently acquired video stills, reminds retail, restaurant, and office building management operating in the 001st District (Central), of an unknown offender who is forcibly entering office buildings through main floor retail stores or restaurants.  The offender is forcing open revolving doors or windows with the intent to take laptop computers, cameras, cell phones and other electronics.  The offender has breached street level doors during the daytime, then returned hours later to complete the burglary.

Burnett was arrested after he was identified as one of the men who fired shots in the 11900 block of S. Indiana Avenue on September 25, 2016 at approximately 5:57 p.m.  The victim was sitting on a porch when two male offenders approached and fired shots, not striking the victim. Officers in the area heard the shots and responded to the scene. As the officers arrived they observed Burnett pick up two handguns and flee on foot.  After a short foot pursuit, officers placed Burnett into custody and recovered two 9MM handguns. Burnett was identified as the person who fired shots toward the victim and was charged accordingly.
