Motor Vehicle Thefts
004th District (South Chicago)
About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to residents in the 4th District (South Chicago) of motor
vehicle thefts that occurred during the months of August and September. In each
incident, the victims returned to the location where they had parked their vehicle and
discovered it had been stolen.
Incident times and locations:
• 1100 block of E. 81st St., 16 Aug 2017 at 8:00pm
• 8050 S. Kenwood Ave, 30 Aug 2017 at 11:30pm
• 8254 S. Kimbark Ave, 09 Sep 2017 at 12:01am
• 1633 E. 86th St, 28 Aug 2017 at 08:00pm
• 1741 E. 92nd Pl., 15 Aug 2017 at 08:45pm
• 9301 S. Oglesby Ave,19 Aug 2017 at 2:00pm
• 2327 E. 89th St., 25 Aug 2017 at 5:00pm
• 8247 S. Clyde, 21 Aug 2017 at 03:00am
• 7700 S. East End, 30 Aug 2017 at 10:30pm
• 7653 S. East End, 31 Aug 2017 at 10:00pm

What you can do:
• Be aware of your surroundings
• Be aware of this crime.
• When you park, always roll the windows up tight, lock all doors, and take the
keys with you.
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to police
• If you have a garage, use it. Lock both your car and the garage
• Pay special attention to any suspicious persons or vehicles loitering in the area.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of any suspicious people
including any vehicle description and license plate information.
