This alert gives notice to the citizens residing in the 015th District (Austin) of Robbery related incidents that have occurred during the months of June and JulyIn these incidents, a group of 1-3 offenders, approximately 18-26 years of age, approached the victim(s), displayed a handgun and forcibly took the victim’s property.

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting DUI Strike Force Patrols in the Austin (15th) and Rogers Park (24th) Districts this upcoming weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Austin (15th) District will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016; the DUI Strike Force Patrol set to be conducted in the Rogers Park (24th) District will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016.

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 015th District (Austin) of an increase in Robbery related incidents that have occurred during the month of April and May.  In these incidents, an unknown offender exits out the passenger side of an unknown grey vehicle, possibly a BMW, displays a handgun and robs the victim of their cell phones and currency.

Daniel Zampini, 26 was arrested after he was identified as the person who shot a 38 year old man on April 15, 2016 at approximately 1:10 a.m. in the 0-100 block of S. Mayfield. The victim was standing outside when shots were fired from a passing black car. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition with 2 gunshot wounds to the abdomen. Zampini was also identified as the man who fired shots at a vehicle minutes prior. This incident occurred on 100 block of N. Austin at approximately 1:05 a.m. A 20 year old female and 20 year old male were driving when Zampini pulled alongside them and fired shots. They were not injured in the incident. Zampini was charged accordingly.

This alert gives notice to businesses in the 015th District (Austin) of Burglary related incidents that have occurred in the months of March and April. In these incidents, an unknown offender(s) pried open the front/rear door of the business and removed electronic items and cash. In one incident, the offender(s) disconnected the power to the business and attempted to pry open an ATM machine.

In these incidents, a group of unknown offenders, approximately 16-20 years of age, approach victims as they are waiting at a bus stop, and either display a handgun or batter the victims and take their property (cell phones and USC). 10 Apr 16- Body CamerasMayor Rahm Emanuel and Interim Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson are announcing that more than 450 body cameras are being shipped to Chicago this week as part of the Chicago Police Department’s body-worn camera pilot program. 

Once training is complete, the cameras will be worn by officers and supervisors on all three watches in seven police districts participating in the pilot program. The cameras will be able to record audio and video, and save up to 72-hours on a single charge in high-definition. The first phase of camera program has been successfully underway in the Shakespeare Police District, and now will expand to Austin, Wentworth, Deering, Ogden, South Chicago, and Gresham – covering one-third of the city.
