016th District (Jefferson Park)
About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several Motor
Vehicle Thefts that have occurred. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) targeted
unoccupied Dodge Caravans (year range 1998-2005) during daytime and evening hours.
Incident times and locations:
There have been several incidents that have occurred since August 18, 2017.
3200 block of N. Lavergne on August 18, 2017 at 11:00 PM
5200 block of W. Patterson on August 20-22, 2017 between 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM
5100 block of W. Eddy on August 21-22, 2017 between 9:00 PM – 8:00 AM
5900 block of N. Eddy on August 31- September 01, 2017 between 6:15 PM – 9:45 AM
4800 block of N. Milwaukee on September 06, 2017 between 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM
5400 block of W. Higgins on September 06-07, 2017 between 2:20 AM – 12:25 AM
3700 block of N. Laramie on September 11, 2017 at 10:20 AM
What you can do:
• Be aware of this pattern crime and alert your friends and family about these crimes.
• Make sure your vehicle is locked and secured.
• Try to park in well-lit areas.
• Pay special attention to any suspicious subjects loitering in the area.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s), including any
vehicle description and license plate information, as well as direction of flight, if known.

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 016th District of recent robberies
that have occurred. In these incidents, the offender approached the victim from
behind, snatched the cellphone or struck the victim and then forcibly removed the
cellphone from their grip.
Incident times and locations:
• 7500 block of N. Oleander on September 06, 2017 at 7:30 pm
• 6600 block of W. Berwyn on September 06, 2017 at 7:40 pm
About the Offender:
Offender is described as a male white, between 20-25 yoa, 5’07-5’09,135-140lbs.
Wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
What you can do:
• Always be aware of your surroundings.
• Report suspicious activity immediately.
• If you are confronted by an assailant, remain calm.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s)

On Thursday, September 7, 2017, at approximately 3:30p.m., a 7 year old female juvenile was at the Ebinger School grounds located at 7350 W. Pratt Ave. Upon being dismissed from school, she was approached by a white male who was staring at and signaling her to come to him with his hand while mouthing “come here” with the intention of luring her to him. The victim did not engage in conversation and fled to the safety of her grandmother.”08

08 Sept 17 16th Dist Community Alert JA-422538 Attempt Kidnapping
On Thursday September 07 2017, at approximately 4:30p.m., a 10 year old female juvenile was approached on foot by an unknown male white. The unknown male approached the female juvenile from behind and without saying anything, grabbed her by both hips and picked her up off the ground. The unknown male began to carry the juvenile down the block until she was able to kick the unknown male and break free. The victim fled to her house and observed the unknown male flee on foot.

About This Crime

On August 25, 2017, at approximately 6:15 p.m., a 12-year-old female juvenile was walking on the 8600 block of W. Summerdale Avenue when an unknown male offender riding a light blue bicycle asked her if she was Polish and where she lives.

Residential Burglaries

016th District (Jefferson Park)

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several

residential burglaries that have recently occurred. In these incidents, unknown offender(s)

have entered apartments and residences, through windows and doors. The offenders have

taken computer laptops, electronics, jewelry, cash, copper piping and other miscellaneous

items.

Incident times and locations:

There have been several incidents that have occurred since July 31, 2017. These incidents

have taken place on Beat 1634, within the boundaries of Belmont to Irving Park and Cicero

to Long, mostly during the day and early evening hours.

5300 block of W. Berenice on July 31, 2017 between 8:00 AM – 5:45 PM

4800 block of W. Melrose on August 08-11, 2017 between 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM

4800 block of W. Henderson on August 16, 2017 between 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM

4800 block of W. Melrose on August 17, 2017 at 9:00 AM

3400 block of N. Cicero on August 22, 2017 at 7:45 PM

DUI SATURATION PATROL – JEFFERSON PARK (16th) DISTRICT

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol in the Jefferson Park (16th) District this weekend. The DUI Saturation Patrol will commence at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 and end at 3 a.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2017.

The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators.

In addition, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed to allow officers to expedite the process of charging a person with Driving under the Influence (DUI)
prior to transporting an alleged into the nearest lockup for bonding. The mobile unit also allows for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Saturation Patrol.

The DUI Saturation Patrol conducted in the Lincoln (20th) District on August 12-13, 2017 resulted in the following:
