This alert gives notice to several Armed Robberies that have occurred within the boundaries of the 017th  District (Albany Park). There have been several robberies in which one or two offenders approach the victims on the street, and demand the victim’s property while pointing a handgun at the victim.

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Albany Park (17th) District this weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2016. The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators.

In addition, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed to allow officers to expedite the process of charging a person with Driving under the Influence (DUI) prior to transporting an alleged into the nearest lockup for bonding. The mobile unit also allows for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Strike Force Patrol.

The DUI Strike Force Patrol conducted in the Englewood (7th) District on September 17-18, 2016, resulted in the following:

Driving Under the Influence 3

Unsafe Vehicle Violations 10

Insurance Violations 6

Safety Belt Violations 7

Driver’s License Violations 8

Traffic Violations (Other) 23

Total Citations 57

Other Arrests 1

Vehicles Towed 4

CPD Officers Render Aid to Fifty-Four Year Old Man Attempting Suicide

CHICAGO – On Saturday, September 10th, at approximately 12:29 p.m., Chicago Police Officer

Fernando Flores and partners were dispatched to a call of a man threating suicide at the 2700

Block of West Montrose. Upon arrival they observed a male standing on top of the bridge which

crosses the river, threatening to jump. The officers immediately developed a rapport with the man

and engaged him in conversation. Their communication skills helped to calm the man until other

assisting units arrived on scene. As the Fire Department arrived the man loosened his grip from

the bridge, the officers with the help of the fire department jumped into action and returned the

man to safety.

The male victim was subsequently taken to Swedish Covenant hospital where he is currently

undergoing psychological evaluation.

There have been three recent Commercial Robberies in the 16th and 17th District. In these cases a male offender entered the business, displayed a Chrome/Silver handgun and demanded money from the register.

There have been recent Burglaries in the 17th District. In these cases, an unknown offender forcibly enters the victim’s residence by forcing open a rear door or breaking a lower level window. In one case, an offender enters through an unlocked window. In all of the cases, the offender takes jewelry, computers, video game systems and USC.
