001st District Burglary P15-1-123CA Burglary Alert[1]This alert gives notice to residents of the 001st District (Central) of an increase in burglary related incidents occurring during the month of May. An unknown offender entered a multi-unit condominium and went floor to floor, looking for unlocked residential units, with no occupants inside.  The offender entered the units and took electronic and personal items.

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 001st District of robbery related incidents during the month of May. During the first incident, an unknown male white offender punches a female victim and knocks her to the ground. The offender continued to strike victim and took the wallet from her pants pocket. In a second incident, an unknown male white offender committed a retail theft. While fleeing from the scene, he grabbed a purse off the shoulder of a female victim. The victim struggled to regain control of her purse before the offender kicked her and fled. The offender fled to a gold colored Toyota that was being driven by a male black. The Toyota may have had a temporary license plate.

Incident times and locations:

  • 400 block of W. Madison St. on 04 May 2015 at 6:45 – 7:00 PM
  • 600 block of W. Jackson Blvd. on 21 May 2015 at 7:00 PM

About the offenders:

  • Male, white , 5’04-5’09, 130-160 lbs., brown eyes, short brown hair, light complexion, 25-30 yoa.
  • Male, black, dreadlocks, 25-30 yoa.

Brown and the two juvenile offenders were placed in custody after being identified in connection to a vehicular hijacking that occurred on the 1800 block of N. Clybourn Ave. on May 13, 2015, at approximately 11:10 p.m. The offenders approached a male victim as he entered his vehicle and demanded he get out while implying a weapon.  The offenders then fled in the vehicle, at which time responding officers observed the stolen vehicle and a traffic pursuit ensued to the 1900 block of W. Fullerton, where they struck a restaurant sign. The offenders were placed into custody and charged accordingly. Click here for more information.

About the crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens and taxi drivers operating in the 1st District of robbery incidents that have occurred during the month of April. In these incidents, a male, black, 20-25 year old offender wearing a dark hat, sunglasses, black jacket with white lettering  and black pants is getting cab rides to locations near CTA entrances. As the offender prepares to exit the cab, he displays a black pistol and demands money or cell phones. Offender is believed to have fled on foot to train entrances to make good his escape.

Lavale Miller was arrested after he was identified as the man who started a fire in a trash receptacle on April 1, 2015 at approximately 4:50 p.m. on the Roosevelt University’s Loop Campus. There were no injuries reported from the incident. Miller was charged accordingly. No further information at this time.

Lawrence Longstreet, 19,  was arrested after he was identified as the man who shot a 16 year old boy in the 6200 block of S. Cottage Grove on February 16, 2015 at approximately 1:15 p.m. The victim was taken in serious condition to the University of Chicago with a gunshot wound to the back. No further information is available at this time.

A male offender(s) has approached female victims from behind on the public way, pushed them or punched them in the face, knocking victims to the ground, and then taking their purse or cell phone by force.
