This alert gives notice to businesses in the 006th District of several armed robbery incidents that have occurred in the Gresham neighborhood. In two of the incidents, the described offender entered the business and allowed other customers to go ahead of him so that he was the last one in line and the only one in the business. The suspect in both incidents made a purchase then announced a robbery while pointing a hand gun at the clerk. The images included are from the robbery that occurred on Jan. 19th, 2016 on the 300 block of East 87th St.

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Austin (15th) District this weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2015. Additionally, the a Roadside Safety Check will be conducted in the (6th) District at 7500 S.
Ashland. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015.

The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators. In addition, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed to allow officers to expedite the process of charging a person with Driving under the Influence (DUI) prior to transporting an alleged into the nearest lockup for bonding. The mobile unit also allows for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Strike Force Patrol.

The DUI Strike Force Patrol conducted in the Jefferson Park (16th) District on December 4 – 5, 2015, resulted in the following: Driving Under the Influence 6

FBI Chicago is seeking the public’s assistance in the identification of a suspect in the attempted robbery of a Chase Bank in the South Shore neighborhood.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 004th (South Shore) and 006th (Gresham) Districts of two commercial burglaries involving financial institutions and their associated properties.  In each of these incidents, the offenders approached, used pry tools and other devices to open ATM machines. In one incident, the offenders were successful in accessing money contained therein.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since  2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.

On November 1, 2015, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Gresham (6th) District officers responded to a traffic crash on the 7700 block of South Loomis, after a male driver traveling at a high rate of speed struck several parked vehicles. Upon arrival officers observed a vehicle in the street on fire and were informed by witnesses that one victim was able to get out and two males were still inside of the vehicle. The officers immediately took control of the situation by breaking out the door windows and were able to extricate two unconscious males before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Three male adult victims were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured.

The four officers are currently assigned Gresham (6th) District.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 006th District (Gresham) on Beat 623 between 07 October 2015 and 26 October 2015 of robbery incidents in which one to two unknown male black offender(s) approached their victims and in most incidents displayed a handgun(s) and demanded currency, cellular phones, or anything of value.

This alert gives notice to citizens of the 6th District (Gresham) on Beat 621 of robbery incidents between September 4, 2015 and October 1, 2015. In these incidents, one to two unknown male offender(s) approach their victims and by
use of force, robs the victims of their property. In one incident the offender displayed a handgun and demanded for the victim to “take off everything”.
