Four Juveniles Charged in Multiple Armed Robberies

Narrative: Four juvenile males were taken into custody and charged after being positively identified as the offenders who committed an Armed Robbery on the 4000 block of S. Langley Ave. on
December 21, 2016 at 8:29 a.m. During this incident, the offenders pulled next to the 20- year-old male victim in a tan sedan as the victim was walking at which time 2 offenders exited and displayed a revolver while demanding the victim’s property. The victim cooperated and the offenders fled in the same vehicle. Responding officers located the vehicle traveling S/B on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. at which time the offenders fled at a high rate of speed eventually striking a CTA bus at 43rd and LaSalle. All four offenders fled from the vehicle on foot but were taken into custody after brief foot chases. Four females on the bus (ages 58, 58, 59, 62) sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and were taken to area hospitals in stable condition. A weapon was recovered inside of the offender’s vehicle which was reported stolen from Matteson, IL. A custodial search of the 17-year-old offender revealed prescription drugs that he did not have a prescription to possess and was therefore also charged with one felony count of PCS. Subsequent investigation revealed that all four offenders were responsible for four additional Armed Robberies which occurred in the 2nd District the morning of December 21, 2016. All four offenders were charged accordingly. No further information is available.

Two Offenders Arrested in 4th District Minutes After Carjacking

Offenders: Male, 17 Janary Fields, 18
8300 Block of South Aberdeen, Chicago, IL

Charges: One felony count of Vehicular Hijacking (both offenders)
Disobey Solid Red Signal (Fields only)

Court Info: Central Bond Court- 26th & California – December 21, 2016

Narrative: While driving, officers observed Fields disobey a solid red signal near 103rd St/Luella. Officers curbed the offenders’ vehicle and investigated further. They discovered the vehicle, a 2017 Porsche, had been carjacked in the 500 block of West 32nd St at 7:40pm. The officers then contacted the 009th District police officers to coordinate an identification of the offenders. The offenders were positively identified as the persons who forcibly took the victim’s vehicle at gun point and were placed into arrest on December 20, 2016 at 8:31pm in the 2200 block of East 103rd St. The male victim, 17, refused medical attention on scene. All offenders were charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time.

DUI SATURATION PATROL – DEERING (009th) DISTRICT

The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol in the Deering

(009th) District this weekend. The DUI Saturation Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday,

December 23, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2016.

The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers

that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place

emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for

speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators.

In addition, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed to allow

officers to expedite the process of charging a person with Driving under the Influence (DUI)

prior to transporting an alleged into the nearest lockup for bonding. The mobile unit also allows

for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Saturation

Patrol.

The DUI Saturation Patrol conducted in the Chicago Lawn (008th) District on December 16-17,

2016, resulted in the following:

Unsafe Vehicle Violations 15

Insurance Violations 7

Traffic Violations (Other) 13

About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 003rd District (Grand Crossing) that there was an increase in robbery related incidents during the month of November in the vicinity of: Clyde Ave-Crandon Ave,7100 South.

About This Crime

On November 21, 2016, at approximately 6:00 p.m., two juvenile females, ages 10 and 14 were playing outside in the 4000 block of W. Wabansia when an unknown driver of a green or blue vehicle pulled along the curb and motioned with his hands for the girls to come closer. When the girls approached the vehicle, the offender told them to get in so he could take them to the store.

This alert gives notice of Robberies that have occurred in the 011th District during the month of November. During these incidents, the offender took a purse from the victim at a CTA bus stop. In the last incident, the offender displayed a knife before taking the victim’s purse.
