This alert gives notice to residents in the 12th (Near West) District of robbery incidents which have occurred during the month of November and December. In these incidents, offenders approach victims and take property by means of physical force or implying a weapon.

Community Alert – 15th District – Armed Robbery/Vehicular Hijacking (P14-N-213 CA)
This alert gives notice to residents in the 15th (Austin) District of an increase in robberies involving a red Dodge or Chrysler minivan. In each instance a male black offender, armed with a dark colored handgun approaches the victim and demands property. After the robbery, offender is then observed fleeing into a red mini van. In one of the incidents, the offender robbed the victim of her vehicle and fled being followed by the red mini van.
Community Alert – 15th District – Garage Burglaries (P14-N-214 CA)
This alert gives notice to the residents in the 015th district of an increase in garage burglaries. An unknown offender enters the victim’s garage either through a side door or the overhead door and removes property; In one of the incidents the victim left his car keys in the vehicle and offender stole the vehicle.

Detectives Ask for Help in Identifying Owners of Stolen Property
During a recent investigation into a string of burglaries committed in the 19th (Town Hall) and 20th (Lincoln) Districts, Chicago Police recovered numerous unclaimed items, all believed to be stolen, including cameras, laptops and jewelry.
On Friday, December 5, 2014, Area North Detectives invited the public to view, identify, and claim their stolen property. However, several items remain unclaimed and Area North detectives continue to seek their rightful owners. Anyone who has been the victim of a burglary in the above mentioned area, and believes that any of these items may be theirs, is encouraged to contact the Bureau of Detectives – Area North Property Crimes at (312) 744-8263.
Roadside Safety Check – 7th (Englewood) District
The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the 7th (Englewood) District at 6401 S. Ashland Ave. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 and end at 3 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014.
During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.
DUI Strike Force Patrol – 9th (Deering) District
The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the 9th (Deering) District. The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014 and end at 3 a.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2014.
The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators.
New CPD Website Creates Engagement with the Public
Superintendent Garry McCarthy announced the launch of the Chicago Police Department’s improved website, which went on Monday. The web address remains www.chicagopolice.org, but has significant updates which highlight new functions available to the public and also make navigating the site more user-friendly
18th District Partners with Chicago Greater Food Depository
Officers in the 18th District have partnered with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to collect food for those in need this holiday season. The efforts are part of the “1 City, 1 Food Drive” campaign.
There is a barrel set up in the 18th District main lobby at 1160 N. Larrabee Ave. It is available around the clock for donation drop offs until Dec. 14, 2014.
