Residential Burglaries
016th District (Jefferson Park)
About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several
residential burglaries that occurred in the month of July. In these incidents, unknown
offender(s) entered apartments and residences, through doors and windows. The
offender(s) removed electronics, jewelry, cash, and other miscellaneous items.
Incident times and locations:
There have been several incidents that have occurred since July 13, 2017. These incidents
have taken place within the following listed locations mostly during the day and early
evening hours.
5500 block of W. Edmonds on July 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM
4300 block of N. Monitor on July 16, 2017 at 2:10 AM
4800 block of N. Central on July 21, 2017 at 9:30 PM
5400 block of N. Lynch on July 25, 2017 at 12:45 PM
5000 block of N. Major on July 25, 2017 between 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM
5600 block of W. Leland on July 26, 2017 at 6:00 PM
What you can do:
• Be aware of this crime pattern and alert your friends and family about these crimes.
• Make sure all doors and windows are locked.
• Pay special attention to any suspicious subjects loitering in the area.
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s), including any
vehicle description and license plate information, as well as direction of flight, if known.

This alert gives notice to the residents in the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of several garage burglaries that have occurred in the month of July. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) gain entry by forcibly kicking or prying open the overhead or side door. Offender(s) also gain entry through unlocked doors. Offender(s) then take construction tools, bicycles and vehicle wheels.
Incident Times and Locations:
There have been several incidents that have occurred since July 17, 2017. These incidents have taken place at the following locations listed, mostly during the evening and overnight hours.
•4800 block of W. Strong on July 17-18, 2017 between 6:30 p.m. – 5:15 a.m.
•4800 block of W. Berteau on July 20, 2017 between 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
• 7000 block of N. Mason on July 20-22, 2017 between 1:00 a.m. – 4:25 p.m.
•4800 block of W. Ainslie on July 26-27, 2017 between 6:00 p.m. – 12:15 p.m.
•5400 block of N. Nagle on July 29, 2017 between 12:01 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

This alert gives notice to residents in the 8th District (Chicago Lawn) of robbery incidents which have occurred during the month of July. In these incidents, the offenders approach the victims near their vehicle and announce a robbery. The offenders flee with the victims personal belongings.
Incident Times and Locations:
•7000 Block of Artesian Avenue on July 15, 2017 at approximately 1:16 a.m.
•2400 Block of West 71st Street on July 17, 2017 at approximately 2:48 p.m.
•2300 Block of West 72nd Street on July 21, 2017 at approximately 12:08 a.m.
•2600 Block of West 71st Street on July 23, 2017 at approximately 6:00 a.m.

About the Crime:
On July 28, 2017 at 3:27 a.m., a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking in the street in the 3500 block W. Congress Parkway. The 42-year-old man was struck by an unknown vehicle matching the description below.
About the Vehicle:
Dark gray in color – possibly a BMW 325/330
The vehicle sustained damage to the left side and front end.
The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on Congress Parkway from St. Louis Avenue

29 July 17 Fatal Hit and Run JA-284494On May 30, 2017 at 2:59 a.m., a male pedestrian was fatally struck in the area of 2308 W. Garfield Blvd. The Chicago Police Department needs the help of the community to solve this Hit and Run. The unknown offending vehicle was traveling west on Garfield Blvd and struck the victim in the cross walk, at Oakley Avenue and Garfield Blvd, and fled the scene without stopping. The offending vehicle is believed to have damage to the front bumper, hood and possibly the front windshield. 26 July 17 – Comm Alert – Armed Robberies in 014th DistFour robberies have occurred in the 014th District between 3:30 a.m. on Saturday July 8, 2017 and 10:55 p.m. on Sunday July 9, 2017. The offenders in each of these cases are described as 4 to 5 “skinny” male blacks aged in their late teens or early twenties. The offenders exited a light colored four-door sedan, robbed the victims and fled in the vehicle. Property taken from the victims included an iPad, cellphones, wallets, credits cards and cash.

About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 8th District (Chicago Lawn) of Deceptive Practice incidents in the month of July. In these incidents, the offender places an ad for an apartment rental. The victims give the offender rent/security deposit and then learn the property is not for rent and they lose the money they have given to the offender.

•6000 block of S. Pulaski Avenue on July 11, 2017 at 2:30 p.m.
•6000 block of S. Pulaski Avenue on July 11, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.
•6000 block of S. Pulaski Avenue on July 13, 2017 at 9:00 p.m.
•6000 block of S. Pulaski Avenue on July 18, 2017 at 10:00 p.m.
