Trae Chatmon was arrested after he was identified as the person who fatally stabbed an 89-year-old woman on October 26, 2015 at approximately 2:55 a.m on the 5100 block of S. Michigan Avenue. Chatmon forcefully gained access to the victim’s apartment and struck the victim in the head with an object and stabbed her multiple times. Chatmon then ransacked the victim’s apartment and set the residence ablaze before fleeing with several items of property. Chatmon was in custody at Cook County jail in a separate incident and was charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time.
Mayor Emanuel, Superintendent McCarthy Launch Police Recruitment Campaign
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since 2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.
Community Alert – Wanted for Attempt Kidnapping – 002nd District (Wentworth)
On October 22, 2015 at approximately 6:30 p.m. on the 3600 block of South King Drive an unknown male black subject grabbed a female juvenile and attempted to put her in his vehicle at the bus stop. The female victim was grabbed by the neck and pushed toward the car, she refused to get into the vehicle and an unknown male citizen intervened preventing the incident. The offender then fled southbound on King Drive from 36th Street in a grey 4 door vehicle.

On October 2, 2015 at approximately 11:04 a.m, on the CTA Green Line Platform at 35th Street; an unknown male touched a female inappropriately and exposed himself.
South Side Man Charged with Murder
Marvin Lee was arrested and charged in connection to a shooting that occurred on the 700 block of E. 47th Street on September 26, 2015, at approximately 12:00 pm. The 25-year-old male victim, who was an acquaintance of the offender, was pronounced at Stroger Hospital after the offender shot him during an altercation. There is no further information available.
