Romell Outlaw was arrested in connection to a murder that occurred on the on April 2nd, 2015. Outlaw was charged after being identified as the offender who fatally shot a 37 year old man as he stood on the 100 block of East 69th Street at approx. 8:25 pm in the evening.
Robberies 003rd (Grand Crossing) District
About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 003rd District (Grand Crossing) of an increase in robbery related incidents that have occurred during the month of April/May on Beat 311.
The Offender approaches the victims, throws them to the ground and takes their property. Detectives are seeking information from anyone with knowledge of these offenders.
Three Men Charged in Robberies and Police Shooting
Hogan, Powell and Belmont were arrested and charged in connection with two armed robberies. The first robbery occurred at approx. 2 a.m. on May 1, 2015, in the 3700 block of S. Vincennes, were the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The second robbery occurred at approx. 3 a.m. on May 1, 2015, in the 0–100 block of E. 21st St. Officers while on patrol were flagged down by the victims of the second robbery, who gave officers a detailed description of the offenders and their vehicle. Officers located the offenders on the 500 block of 43rd Street. Hogan exited the vehicle revealing a handgun in his waistband area and charged the officer hitting him with his body. The officer’s weapon discharged after Hogan ran into the officer striking the offender. Hogan dropped the weapon and fled. Powell and Belmont were taken into custody without incident. The Chicago Police Department will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Calumet (5th) District this weekend. The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015.

The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Harrison (11th) District at 4525 W. Madison Street. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17th, 2015 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18th, 2015.
DUI Saturation Patrol – 3rd (Grand Crossing) District & 25th (Grand Central)
The Chicago Police Department will be conducting DUI Strike Force Patrols in the 3rd (Grand Crossing) District and in the 25th (Grand Central) District this weekend.
The 3rd District DUI Strike Force Patrol will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015 and end at 3 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015.
The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence in the 25th District at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 and end at 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2015.

Attempt to Identify Suspect- Aggravated Battery – 3rd District
About the crime:
On February 16, 2015, at approximately 1:15 p.m., in the 6200 block of S. Cottage Grove, a 16 year old boy was approached by an unknown male subject. This subject produced a handgun and fired at the victim as he was attempting to flee. The victim was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the lower back.
The subject fled the scene before he could be apprehended. Detectives were able to secure images of the suspect. We are asking for the public’s assistance in helping identify him.
About the suspect:
- Described as a male black with short hair, 16-18 years old, 6’00”-6’02”, 150-160 lbs., wearing a red jacket over a black hoody
